As I went around the point, the sand beaches disappeared completely, revealing a rocky shoreline
To all who visit and view, and – especially – express support and satisfaction: you are much appreciated!
This is from Thursday nights sunset and moon rise at my local beach. After a busy day at work I decided a much needed blast of sea air was needed. I left the house and immediately spotted two woodpeckers hanging on to a small oak tree at the bottom of the garden. I instantly saw a great shot in there as they faced each other symmetrically either side of the trunk. I got the camera but they had flown away. I then get to the middle of the garden and spot a water vole scurrying to a nest under some logs. At least I think it was a water vole and not a rat! I then get to the end of the garden, spot the two woodpeckers in some lovely light in the tops of the trees and get a couple of shots. I happily walk ten paces and find a crazy moth like thing clinging to the Gunnera at the end of the garden! You make think i have a small jungle for a back garden, but in reality it is no more than 20 meters long. Everything was out that night.
Anyway, I get to the beach to discover ducks next to the water. They take flight across a beautifully calm and sunlit sea as two sailing boats are glowing on the horizon. Again, another couple of images caught there :) It is the lowest tide I have seen in ages, I headed to a new section of the beach that is more rocky than my usual haunts and found some great looking green seaweed. You know that really slippery stuff that you shouldn't walk on. Yeh, I slipped over a couple of times :) I also got this shot though, which I am happy about. The nearly full moon can be seen just rising between the clouds. I liked the fg colour, the motion and the way the composition leads out to the horizon in blobs of watery swirls and rocks. The moon there is something that always stirs an emotion in me too :) The full moon is out tonight, and I hope to catch it or at least a decent sunset on the North coast. Thanks for looking and for reading my ramblings.

The sharp and desolate hills around the Vekol Valley are pummeled by a passing monsoon thunderstorm.
The snow is beautiful, don't you think? Clean, uncompromising...
And Cold.
Like the swift hand of vengeance.
I saw what happened to your wife…I’m sorry.
I'm beyond emotions. They've been frozen dead in me.
That suit you wear, a result of the coolant?
Very good, a detective to the last. I can no longer survive outside a sub-zero environment.
Tonight, I mean to pay back the man who ruined my life... our lives.
Even if you have to kill everyone in the building to do it?
Think of it, Batman. To never again walk on a summer's day with the hot wind in your face and a warm hand to hold. Oh yes, I'd kill for that!
Whether it's spending time in the vast openness of a particular space or an intimate scene viewed close-up, landscape photography continues to allow me the pleasure of capturing the beauty and grandeur of unspoiled nature through the lens of my 📷

Not exactly what I had in mind for this weeks challenge :( I added text and took it back off over and over. I just ended up liking it better with no extra text.
I stood by life's edge..
I looked beyond;
Made a solemn pledge
To keep moving on.
Still, of me a part
I leave behind
For you to find
If you come along...

Children, always curious, always attracted by what is different. We should all remain children and always peek over our "gates"
Driving around the backroads of Indiana & found this very old home that had burned down long ago, I bet it was once very beautiful.
Rest on this earth is false rest. Beware of those who urge you to find happiness here; Try this Imagine a perfect world. Whatever that means to you imagine it. Does that mean Peace? Then envision absolute traquility. Does a perfect world imply Joy? Then create your highest happiness. Will a perfect world have love? If so, ponder a place where love has no bounds. Whatever heavens means to you, imagine it. Get it firmly fixed in your mind...........

A long Exposure shot that I took late last spring. This summer I really wanted to work more with my ND 400x filter, since I hardly ever used it after I bought it some years ago. I also used the filter in a huge time lapse video that I've been working on this summer. I'm hoping to put up a trailer tomorrow and a full version of it on Vimeo.
Have a great start to the new week everyone.
About the Photo:
This shot is an HDR composed of three shot. It was taken right outside of City Hall in downtown Philadelphia. Processed using photomatix, and photoshop.

Surrealism totally eludes me and I have no idea what "eaten by the moon" means or what rabbits have to do with it ....Ha! Nonetheless here's my attempt.

All of the valley floor beyond the sign is below sea level due to the slow separation of two tectonic plates over millions of years. Death Valley is not only the lowest place in the western hemisphere, it is also the hottest place on Earth with summer daytime temperatures often topping 120 degrees with nighttime temperatures not falling below 100 degrees. A few months ago this whole area was carpeted with wildflowers. During the last ice age it was an enormous lake.
Later this day while travelling to an abandoned mining camp I got two flat tires at the same time on a particularly rocky stretch of road in middle of nowhere where it was 102 degrees with no shade.
To the right, more Death Valley photos from last week's trip >>

I have known about these LR's for 4 years, and they are slowly sinking into the earth. I guess they are beyond help.
Edit: now on youtube: www.youtube.com/user/BeyondTheBrickTV !
I've always liked the new Beyond the Brick logo, though it always annoyed me how a LEGO podcast didn't have a brick built logo.
So I decided to build them one.
