Europe - France - Paris - Gare de l'Est : " Between " - " Entre deux "

The scene at centre stage .

Queen St. Mall

Brisbane

This stone pier is known as the harbour arm and was built between 1812 and 1815. The lighthouse at the end of the pier was rebuilt in 1955. The Harbour Arm has a bar, cafés and galleries which are open daily during the summer months. At the end of the pier looking out to the Margate seafront is a brass sculpture of a shell lady named ‘Mrs Booth’.

Margate's first Lighthouse was built in 1828 to mark the town's newly built breakwater. The original lighthouse was a round Doric column, similar to the old west pier light at Whitby. It had a square gallery and cylindrical lantern, but this tower became a victim of the Great Storm of 1953. Strong seas pushed the old tower over, leaving it leaning at a precarious angle for several hours, prior to it collapsing, along with a large section at the end of the pier. The storm also destroyed the local pleasure pier.

In 1955, the current octagonal concrete tower was built, topped by a copper lantern housing a fixed red LED light. Unlike the original tower, this new structure was of a much simpler and less grand design. The new lighthouse, which has become one of Margate's most recognizable landmarks is accessible by walking the harbour arm, which is open to the public and free of charge.

Margate is a seaside town in Thanet, Kent, South East England, 15 miles (24.1 km) north-east of Canterbury, which includes Cliftonville, Garlinge, Palm Bay and Westbrook.

"Between the Rocks:" Thumb Butte as seen framed between two granite boulders as the sun sets. From my low-down perspective and the proximity of the boulders to me, the butte in the distance almost seems miniaturized by comparison.

“Norval Morrisseau (1931–2007) is considered by many to be the Mishomis, or grandfather, of contemporary Indigenous art in Canada. His life has been sensationalized in newspapers and documentaries while his unique artistic style has pushed the boundaries of visual storytelling. The creator of the Woodland School of art and a prominent member of the Indian Group of Seven, Morrisseau is best known for using bright colours and portraying traditional stories, spiritual themes, and political messages in his work.”

Stuck between two forces, trying to support the weight from both of them so one does not clash to the other to prevent destruction.

I am almost always inspired by a certain location and when I saw this huge rock/boulder on to the side of the wall/ rock formations I thought of this concept and went into the small space between the rocks.

Five fall to adventure

Between the lines

In twilight's embrace, I wander, graceful and free,

Upon the line, where worlds converge and spirits see.

In liminal spaces, I dance with cosmic tides,

Where dreams and reality gracefully collide.

With each step I take, a bridge begins to form,

Connecting realms unseen, defying the norm.

The realms of wonder and the realm of the known,

A tightrope walker, finding my way on my own.

A whispering breeze carries tales from afar,

Through veils of mist, where mysteries spar.

The line I walk, a delicate thread in time,

Revealing secrets that are both yours and mine.

Embracing contradictions, I find my solace there,

Balancing light and darkness, with utmost care.

For in this space, where duality entwines,

I witness the magic where harmony shines.

In twilight's embrace, the line becomes my guide,

A conduit between worlds, where wonders reside.

Oh, let us dance together, upon this sacred seam,

Where endless possibilities weave a surreal dream...

Trier Cathedral

The High Cathedral of Saint Peter in Trier (German: Hohe Domkirche St. Peter zu Trier), or Trier Cathedral (German: Trierer Dom), is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is the oldest church in Germany and the largest religious structure in Trier, notable for its long life span and grand design. The central part of the nave was built of Roman brick in the early fourth century, resulting in a cathedral that was added onto gradually in different eras. The imposing Romanesque westwork, with four towers and an additional apse, has been copied repeatedly.[3] The Trier Cathedral Treasury contains an important collection of Christian art. In 1986 the church was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the Roman Monuments, Cathedral of St. Peter and Church of Our Lady in Trier.(wikipedia).

This is the part of the Gothic cloisters which were built between 1245 and 1270. They connect the Cathedral and the Liebfrauenkirche. In the western section of the cloisters is a chapel where the cathedral's canons were buried. On the outside wall is a bell from 1682. Adjacent to the cloisters are several annex buildings. The so-called "Romanesque Room" was the former cathedral school. The "Gothic Room" was used for distributing bread to the poor.

Constructed between 1888 and 1897, the Library of Congress is located in Washington, D.C. at the intersection of 1st St. and Independance Avenue. It's beautiful, large-scale building is comprised mainly of marble, granite, iron, and bronze. The Library's architectural style is reminiscent of that of ancient Greece. It's typical Greek characteristics include columns of the Ionic order, relief sculpture, and statues of Greek god figures, such as Poseidon, god of the sea. These attributes are significantly comparable to those of the altar of Pergamon located in present day Turkey. Housing thousands of books, music, and art collections, the Library of Congress contains numerous reading rooms used by the public people. It is not restricted to use by special officials, but welcomes everybody as it was constructed specifically to serve as the American national library. Italian Renaissance designed bt J.L. Smithmeyer and P.J. Pelz.
