Pine Valley Peak in the distance is framed by two large hoodoos in the foreground. The sun has already set, but still turning the clouds pink.
Between Peach Spring and Yampai is the curved double track Nelson tunnel. It is the only tunnel on the former Santa Fe Transcon in Arizona. This is train Q-LABH a priority intermodal from Los Angeles to Birmingham using the Avard connection with the BN (former Frisco). This was in 1991 well before the Santa Fe/BN merger Power from both roads was typically used. In 1991, we were able to drive across the track in Nelson through a clearly never-closed gate and use former ROW that had been bypassed in 1923 when the tunnel was built to get to tunnel. I've read that the lime plant in Nelson has closed that off in recent years and getting to the tunnel is difficult.

Sandhill Crane.
Between 34 to 48 inches in length with a wingspan of nearly 7 feet. They are very tall with a long neck and long legs. Largely gray with a red forehead. Juveniles are browner and have no red on head. Their plumage often appears a rusty color because of iron stains from water of ponds or marshes.
They inhabit large freshwater marshes, prairie ponds and marshy tundra. They are also on prairies and grain fields during migration and in winter.
They range from Siberia and Alaska to the Hudson Bay and south into western Ontario. There are isolated populations in: the Rocky Mountains, the northern prairies, the Great Lakes, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida. They winter in California's Central Valley and across the southern states from Arizona to Florida.

Looking Close... on Friday: Between
After picking Henrietta up from school I told her what the "challenge" was for this week: she had lots of ideas! This worked best😊

Between Eureka and Trinidad, CA
05-02-22
I'm not sure exactly which beach this is.
I think it's Clam Beach from looking at Google Maps. We were on our way up to Trinidad and I just had to get out of the car and photograph the sky, which was quite dramatic.
Rural Landscape - Iowa
We have had light snow, flurries and wind for several days now . . . this is between! One minute it's flurries, the next the sun is out!
It's the clouds and the energy that capture my attention on such days . . . yesterday was not disappointing!

Gestern am Spätnachmittag stand der Mond auf ca. 45° am westlichen Himmel knapp über dem Wald. Er passte genau zwischen die Bäume...
Yesterday in the late afternoon, the moon was at about 45° in the western sky, just above the forest. It fit perfectly between the trees...
In the water, now does lie
A thousand leaves, fallen from the sky
Shades of Autumn, browns and green
Rest together, no space between
In their new home, below the sky
Resting together, and waiting to die
Platycnemis pennipes - Blue Featherleg
A single wide open macro shot taken with a Canon 77D and Canon EF100mm f2.8 L Macro IS USM mounted on a Velbon Ultra Stick Super 8.
This was really the first event I had attended and photographed since the start of the Pandemic. The mask requirements were starting to ease. Some wore them, while others decided not to. For me, it was interesting seeing the choice made by the individual, before my lens.
Like a boxer up against the ropes , this bush brushes bravely before bedding between bedposts. Thoughts of a pink cloud enter its mind and a hill "caps" it off.

Watch the Video of that afternoon on Flickr
Hail Core was on top of me on that first storm to the north of the City... I deiced to bail & go pick up my daughter, as she had called & said I want to go...I scooped her up & proceeded south of the city about 20 miles between Minden & Axtell Nebraska!
The 2nd supcell of the day was coming at us from Dawson County. @ That time that would be direcly to our west northwest. This storm was a fast mover. The first storm of the afternoon was only moving at 14 mph... So we didn't have much time to take snaps.
Though I did take a lot of snaps ...but I made a rookie play & didn't reset this focus from manual. I can be a knucklehead sometimes with I'm in the thick of things....
These were the final images of that afternoon. The ones in focus... We arrived just minutes ahead of its approach. Just in time to get these phenomenal captures right underneath the base of this monster!!!

Glencoe, Scotland
When you go through Glencoe for the first time, the atmosphere becomes suddenly very particular and heavy of History! The vast landscapes are breathtaking whatever the light or weather conditions. I would definitely recommend that place as a stop over if you are road trippin' in Scotland. This is where happened the massacre of Glencoe in 1692, in which 38 members of the Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed by forces acting on behalf of the government of King William III following the Glorious Revolution.
Between images of tales of Alsace, magical landscapes, scenery and fantastic film scenes of comics, the rendering of this work is also hyper-realistic for large prints to see the smallest details.
Entre images de contes d'Alsace, paysages magiques, décors de films fantastiques et scènes de bandes dessinées, le rendu de ce travail se veut aussi hyper-réaliste, pour des tirages de grandes dimensions afin de percevoir les moindres petits détails.
