The soft tread of your footsteps
Behind me
Did not surprise me
That winter's day.
Then glancing sideways
I saw the rebel
Now walking beside me.
Disappearing behind trees,
The sun tried to listen in,
But you said nothing.
So he conspired
And the snow began to fall.
You led me to shelter
Under a tree
And the flakes fell from your hair
Like gemstones,
But all we wanted
Was to walk in the open
Once more.
We were still some way from home
When you told me who you were.
Freedom, you said.
And one day I would understand.
Years later I still walk that path
Dappled with shadow
In the sun, storm and snow,
Waiting to meet you again.
But I never do.
Even so, I remember you fondly.
meet ranger!
he is the newest little puppy on the property... a sweet little island dog.

Perhaps if I publish this one, it'll get repaired like the last one I featured (see Tuesday 12th October)! Taken on Friday 15th October 2010.
Okay, I admit it. I'm really set in my ways and I'm no longer a big fan of change. Time marches on, and all that, but in my opinion, this bench wreaks of commercialism compared with the beautiful, old decorated concrete bench that used to be here. I used to call that bench, "Tigger's Bench", since it was where I took my favorite shot of Tigger which I called, "How Could You Leave Me?" Tigger would often get on that bench and turn his back to me when he knew I was leaving, and when I'd talk to him, he'd whip his tail in disapproval, sulking the whole time! Eventually, he didn't leave me anymore, as I adopted him and took him home to live with me, but when HE left me for good, I had the photo framed to always remember my Tigger.
No matter WHAT bench they put in its place, I would never have liked it. It does show that there are people in our community who are committed to keeping this park beautiful, though, and a friend of mine from high school, Ann Pinitiliano is named on this bench as one of them. I guess you can't give credit where credit is due on a concrete bench. At least this one won't be missed as much when it is replaced by another.
The original bench is in the first comment below.
I have passed this corner ever since I moved into the neighborhood and there was an old bench there which I also have posted... But when I went to the store the other day there was a new one there.. So glad because I didn't think that old bench would even hold a grown up anymore... Happy Bench Monday, Everybody!!!!

What is reality? Something we can see? Something we can touch? Something we can smell, taste? Something that can hurt us? Are these not the definition of our dreams? Are our feelings in our dream any less real than what we feel when awake? Who's to say that our dreams are not our reality? Whose to say that Jon hasn't come completely off the rails? Yeah, its just a bench on a street in Casa Grande, Arizona.
I still haven't been out and about so I created a bench in Deep Dream T2D for our Bench Monday Group.. Looks pretty nice .. Now we need some kids playing with the dog out on the grass.. LOL!! Happy Bench Monday, Everybody!!!

This is the neighborhood park. I'm going to miss this place. In the warmer months it's the only large patch of green in the area.
