Pimelea physodes, the Qualup Bell is a beautiful small bush with lots of flowers. The colourful bell shaped bracts hide the flowers inside.
Today I took the Free 935 Bus to Kings Park, a beautiful , large botanic garden and park not too far from the Perth CBD and over the Swan River. The Park, some 400 acres has beautiful views over the Swan River towards Perth and towards Freemantle. It composes formal gardens with Western Australian native plants especially wildflowers and some bushland. The native bush is severely damaged at the moment from the extremely dry summer and winter this year. The Park is also having problems with an introduced pest, the Polyphagus shot-hole borer beetle. This Beetle was found in 2021 and comes from SE Asia. It is devastating some of the species in the park with the only treatment being felling the trees. www.abc.net.au/news/2024-08-17/wa-scientists-push-for-sho...

The Bell Tower of Xi'an (simplified Chinese: 脿å®é愼; traditional Chinese: 脿å®éęØ; pinyin: XÄ«'Än ZhÅnglóu), built in 1384 during the early Ming Dynasty, is a symbol of the city of Xi'an and one of the grandest of its kind in China. The Bell Tower also contains several large bronze-cast bells from the Tang Dynasty. The tower base is square and it covers an area of 1,377 m2 (14,820 sq ft). The tower is a brick and timber structure and close to 40 m (130 ft) high. It is located in the center of Xi'an, at the intersection of the four streets of the east, west, south and north. It is the largest and most preserved one amongst the many bell towers left over from ancient China.(Wikipedia)

There are countless mosques that dot the Istanbul skyline with their beautiful domes and minarets. And although I thought there were others that were at least as stunning, these two are tourist favoritesā¦. in the foreground is the Blue Mosque, and to the right is the Sophia Hagia Mosque.
Without a drone, which are heavily restricted in Istanbul, this was the best vantage point I could get to get both mosques together.

The Qualup Bell grows in sandy or gravelly locations, often in rocky sites, restricted to the southern coast of Western Australia, between Albany and Esperance, primarily within the Fitzgerald River National Park.
Horticultural tips
Difficult to maintain in cultivation when not grafted, and will probably do better as a container plant.
For best quality flowers, full sun position is preferred.
Responds well to pruning, without which they can get quite leggy.
It was a very quiet Friday night before Christmas on this usually busy strip of restaurants and bars. A couple of the temporary outside dining structures can be seen on either side of the street, and most of the snow from two days earlier is already gone. It is a very difficult time for everyone, especially for the bars and restaurants, who all chip in for the overhead garland stretching across the boulevard. There are mostly green lights ahead, but the two yellow lights warn, "Caution!" I live nearby and went for a walk in search of my daily photo fix. One photo a day.
