Card created for the "be inspired" challenge at Hero Arts. I love Lucy's use of repetition & string on her cards & thought I would make up a quick card for my dad for Father's Day. TFL!
Will list materials later.
I made 2 cards last night for Father's Day. My creative juices feel severely stunted right now and this was quite a struggle.
My original plan was to make two of the same card (no time for two originals!) but I wasn't sure that I liked the script background or punched circle here, so I modified it in the second version. But after sleeping on it, I think I might not look as bad as I thought?
Anyway, this was first inspired by Lin to do an emboss/resist technique. She uses vintage text wonderfully, too, so I decided to stamp the Italian script to create a subtle text background here.
Card base: I distressed a piece of ivory cs with shabby shutters and broken china. Clear embossed the Three Ferns, then distressed with walnut stain for an emboss/resist. Used Jennifer McGuire's tip from her Thinking Inking class on TwoPeas to do the watermark-looking script in the background. I inked up the Italian Poetry with Versamark, then spritzed water on it and stamped it onto the distressed cs to create the watermarkift off color.
Layered (blue) piece of cs: I took a smaller piece of ivory cs, stamped the Italian Poetry Background in shabby shutters, then clear embossed the Three Ferns. Distressed with broken china for emboss/resist and adhered to card base.
I punched a circle on the front, used a circle mask to distress the card inside, then stamped sentiment in broken china. Added string & button and popped up the sentiment. String is inspired by none other than Lucy. :) Thanks for looking!

This card by Tiffany is one of my all time favourite cards. I love it. LOVE it.
So I was inspired by her to create a dotty card, using my brand new deer stamp. I think this is going to be a new favourite. I love the way Tif has lots of space in her cards - they are so clean looking.

White embossed flowers inspired by Lucy Abrams. Using my old but still some of my favourite stamps . . . the wildflowers and dotted ribbon, adding the new Hello. Not forgetting a bit of bling.
“When all is done, you must look in your own heart to know the truth. It lies at some middle depth, half-truths above, half-truths below. Even my truth, what I tell you know, is colored to fit my vision. Find your own truths as best you can, only remember that few are courageous enough to tell a tale of which they are not the hero.” ― Alida Van Gores, Mermaid's Song
Going through the archives and I find myself loving this image more and more. It is as if time makes a photo so much more rich emotionally and artistically for me once time has had a chance to age the memory, the moment, the feeling.
Kellee Dohrman and Jameson Henkle, I plan to be in your area in the middle of July timeframe and would love to make some acro art in the Redwoods. Just saying.
