I love the pointy edges and curly hairs that surround this shy, brilliantly pink flower. Such a contrast to the large green upside-down umbrella leaves below!
Begonia is a genus of perennial flowering plants in the family Begoniaceae. The genus contains 1,795 different plant species. The Begonias are native to moist subtropical and tropical climates. Some species are commonly grown indoors as ornamental houseplants. In cooler climates some species are cultivated outside in summertime for their bright colorful flowers, which have sepals but no petals.

An overcast rainy day today. Since the Ottawa Tulip Festival is in full swing with 1 - 2 million bulbs blooming in and around the area... why not take a shot of a Begonia ;-)
Strobist info:
-Camera set to Tungsten WB to boost the blue of an overcast sky.
-Godox TT600S immediate camera right 2 feet (0.66 meters) from front flower in manual 1/32 power, 50mm zoom with a Rogue Grid gelled with a CTO focused on the front flower to render its actual colour (color).
-Triggered with a Godox X1Ts.
What I'd change: I feel another 1/4 CTO would have rendered a more natural warm colour (color) in the flower.

We have a Begonia plant in our garden we have had for around 50 years. We had it in a pot on the verandah for many years before we put it in the corner of the garden that gets morning sun and afternoon shade. We cut it back now and then if it’s looking dowdy but it grows back again. It’s around 1m tall.
I just spotted her yesterday as she popped her head up above all the other bedded plants in my garden.
Genus Begonia can be annuals, evergreen or deciduous perennials or shrubs, with fibrous, tuberous or rhizomatous roots and usually asymmetrical leaves, often strikingly patterned, and small or large flowers, both male and female in the same cluster.
Rather a sweetie, don't you think?
