Beginner Showmanship winners in the Youth Swine Show at the Alabama National Fair Oct. 15 in Montgomery were Ruby Hodnett of Tallapoosa County, first place; Roop Lovvorn of Randolph County, second; Ellie Andrews of Calhoun County, third; Anna Claire Simpkins of Clay County, fourth; and Seth McMurray of Randolph County, fifth. Beginner showmen range from 4 to 8 years of age, and a judge selects winners based on the exhibitors’ showing abilities. Alabama Farmers Federation and Alfa Insurance sponsored youth livestock events at the fair.
