Lee Vining Creek is a 16.2-mile-long stream in Mono County, California. The creek begins as snow melt in the Ansel Adams Wilderness and ends by flowing into Mono Lake.
Na een heerlijk begin van de dag in Obernjesa werd er gekeken wat we deden. SETG was in aantocht met een "Schnittholzzug", maar deze zou over een andere lijn gaan dan de andere goederentreinen. Omdat deze lijn erg schaars was aan stekken werd er gekeken op Maps voor alternatieven. Na een beetje zoeken en cabrides kijken kwamen we uit op deze plek. Het zou hier goed te doen moeten zijn qua begroeiing. In Obernjesa werden de spullen gauw ingepakt en vertrokken we richting de voor ons nieuwe stek nabij Witzenhausen.
Bij aankomst werd het hoogstatief meegenomen en werd gekozen waar we zouden staan. Het zou nog zo'n half uur duren voor de doorkomst van SETG. Tegelijk werd er iets anders in de gaten gehouden; HVLE met een Laugetrein, maar deze stond toch al zo'n 1,5 uur aan de kant in Bebra.. Toch werden hier nog SETG en Metrans opgewacht.
Na zo'n half uur wachten kwam SETG in zicht, en tevreden werd de fraaie loc vastgelegd door de 3 fotografen! SETG 193 219 "Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht" als trein 88936 van Ingolstadt naar Borstel.

So we finally had some snow here in Edinburgh. It is really just a small amount but enough to transform the so familiar landscape into something special. As always, it is unlikely to last so I took the dogs to the Pentlands this morning to at least capture some of the white.

30/365 2025 Toy Photo Challenge
The Palouse is rapidly wakening up. The winter wheat and tees are greening up and the farmers are busy prepping the fields and planting the spring crop.
People begin to get their seats inside the Old Faithful Lodge’s Geyser Hall as they are waiting for the next eruption of Old Faithful. The historic main lodge was built in the 1920s and retains its rustic appeal with log and stone pillar construction.
#1 in Explore on the 1st of the 1st January 2012. I'm pretty stoked about that :)

It's been nearly six months since i've posted here on flickr, so I plan to be more active on here this year!
Here's my take on the first sunrise of 2012 taken at Pt Catrwright, Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
I stayed sober and make the trek up to the Sunshine Coast. It was great catching up with Kane Gledhill and to meet a few others!! What a great way to bring in the new year!

Taking Chief Two Guns across Swiftcurrent Lake on our way to the Grinnell Glacier hike as our adventure begins. Chief Two Guns was built in 1960 for the Glacier Park Boat Company. She was placed on Swiftcurrent Lake where she has remained ever since. This vessel is a 45-foot marine plywood hull launch with batten seam construction authorized by the U.S. Coast Guard to carry 49 passengers.

Nanjing Road (Chinese: 南京路; pinyin: Nánjīng Lù; Shanghainese: Noecin Lu) is a road in Shanghai, the eastern part of which is the main shopping district of Shanghai. It is one of the world's busiest shopping streets, along with Fifth Avenue, Oxford Street, Orchard Road, Takeshita Street and the Champs-Élysées. Twilight begins over the black obsidian flow at Newberry Crater National Volcanic Monument.
The Big Obsidian Flow is Oregon's youngest lava flow. It erupted from Newberry Caldera about 1,300 years ago.
Paulina lake is below and the two mountains in the distance are Mt Bachelor and South Sister.
Not only did the day begin on a high note but it ended rather nicely just prior to departing. The Brown Pelicans have returned and a couple seem to be setting up shop on the bayou. They usually outpace me in the canoe and I rarely get close enough to them before they depart into the distance but there were several around and a couple of them were fairly cooperative. This particular character was doing a bit of showing off as he searched for his next meal on Armand Bayou. That is Bay Area Park in the background in this capture.
