Renovation and addition to Romanzo Bayley House in Jefferson-Argonne Historic District. Kirkwood, Missouri.

weehoo! Finally got around to getting my hair all trimmed up. Befores and Afters :D

It’s hot. Way too hot to do anything around the Acre after mid-morning, so I’ve decided to take up residence on the deck. There’s shade overhead, cold beverages at hand, and Jimmy Buffet singing about sharks and margaritas in the background.

The view from my favorite chair faces west where the tropical garden has grown big, lush and green now. Hard to believe five months ago on this day it was burnt and barren.

Bananas and root beer plant (left) were frost-bitten back to the stem.

Cannas and pineapple guava (right) were equally fried even though they had more protection.

Using the winter lull, I cleared the bed and moved a bunch of tropical misfits — a plumeria, some ginger and a (badly abused) lemon grass — from around the acre into the bed.

As you can see, five months later, a) all the transplants are doing just fine, and b) I obviously overlooked all the 4 O’clock seeds still there from last year.

Prior to this it had been wildflowers, but they were hit or miss, so I replaced them with a tall, Kahili ginger to create a leafyscreen. As you turn to the right you see the plumeria (which is small now, but will be several feet taller in a year or two), a shaggy lemon grass and some butterfly bush that keeps the tropical feel but ramps down the height and leafiness for the transition to the dry areas of the lower yard.

You keep enjoying the photos. Help yourself to a beer in the fridge. Me, I’m gonna have a siesta while Jimmy sings about ol’ Mexico.

The first one is probably when I weighed my heaviest, between February and March of 2008.

The second one is me wearing the same outfit sans sweater. Those pants used to be so tight on me the button popped off. Now they're too big to do up.

The third one is me today... in my work clothes.

I'm almost at my halfway mark (which is 41lbs). I've lost 37lbs altogether.

My name is Tanya and I have been a member of Lucille Roberts since last June. For as long as I can remember, I have always been overweight. In middle school, I was so heavy I was put on diets by physicians, and they didn’t work. I tried karate before high school...didnt work. In high school when I weighed around 200 pounds, I tried a billion diet pills and food diets but they didn’t make a difference. I even tried weight watchers in high school and ended up gaining 15 lbs!.

Last February I had my first baby and had gained a considerable amount of weight. I weighed 258 pounds in March and the weight was not coming off.

In June I decided to join Lucille Roberts for the classes hoping they would motivate me. My plan was to get to the gym 2 times a week and work out at home 3 days a week. After joining and meeting the staff at Lucille Roberts, I now go to the gym 4 days a week and take 2-3 classes each time I go! All the classes are wonderful!.

Since joining the gym I am 51 pound lighter! I couldn’t be happier and I do plan to continue going to the gym. My goal is to weigh 175 pounds by the end of the year. I am sure in the pictures I have sent that you can see the wonderful difference, but the effect that joining Lucille Roberts has made on my life and in my journey to becoming a healthier happier me has been invaluable!

Edited in Photoshop Elements and Lightroom.

I edited most of this last year and can't remember exactly what I did. But when I pulled the edit I had done into Lightroom recently I used a color pop action and the skin smoothing tool.

I was feeling a little like I was losing "it's not a competition" fitness competition to Schnookie, who ran 5 miles today and lost a bunch of pounds over the week. Schnookie decided to snap me out of it by taking some "after" pictures. Huh. I guess I am fitter than before!

(I should haven't been feeling down -- an hour before this picture was taken, I was doing side planks with my feet 12" off the ground in the highly-unstable TRX straps! i may not be as fit as Schnookie, and I may not be losing weight anymore, but I think I'm getting the "stronger and stronger every week" thing down pretty well.)

Amazing transformation by Ben today!!! Our client had a very dark tinted base and along with very sensitised hair this was a challenge for Ben. Ben used @olaplex to ensure his clients condition wasn't damaged any further!!! Then using @lorealprofuk platinum plus and luocolour this amazing result was achieved!! #hairbrained #hairofinstagram #hairdressersjournal #benbrownhair #beforeandafter #greyhair

This is a pic I found of my very first car that I owned all on my own. Had the pink slip and everything.

It wasn't all that fast, and it didn't handle all that well, but it had lots of 'personality' and returned a reasonable fuel economy (though at the time gas was under $1.00/gal, if you can believe that).

I was 93.4kg a year ago, and I lost 20 kg in 6 months.

I am 72kg now, and the ideal weight is 65-68kg.

I had been trying to lose 25 pounds for almost 16 years—ever since I had my twins.

I tried all kinds of diets, but nothing worked. I tried to exercise as often as I could, but still the weight stayed on. I've always been a couch potato and it was hard for me to get into any kind of daily exercise routine.

I was getting ready to give up for the millionth time, when I met Joanne. It was my 44th birthday —October 4th-- and I was in tears on the treadmill at Lucille Roberts. I turned to her in despair. "Nothing's working!" I cried to her.

She vowed to help me lose the weight and she has. Joanne taught me how to eat right and how to exercise.

Now I've lost 23 pounds (and still going!) and over 20 inches. As Joanne said, I am a whole new kind of animal—a gym rat! I go to the gym 6 days a week and I love it. Before I would ride my bike around my neighborhood and after 15 minutes (and three miles) I would be sweaty and out of breath. Recently I tried that ride again, and then again, and then again—9 miles nonstop, and I barely broke a sweat!

I look good, I feel good, I have so much energy……I bagged up all my fat clothes (bags and bags and bags—almost 16 years worth!) and gave them all to charity. I will never put that weight back on again.

If I can do it, anyone can!

Wet & Forget is a non-caustic, non-acidic, gentle product that removes moss, mold, mildew, and algae from any outdoor surface!

Sarah built and put all these in on Tuesday night

My house, (last summer, and circa mid-1940's.) The fountain is still in the front yard, but it's now a flower garden (the spitting swan now sits in a garden in the back yard.)

I scored 8 plates for only $20 and it's because they all looked like that. So thrilled with this before and after!
