Number 1 on our wish list for Cuba! What a thrill to find and photograph this tiny bird. Barely 2" in length, it's the smallest bird on our planet. Although small, he does not lack in beauty! Take a moment to look at the 5 shots I've posted...enjoy!
This scary looking bee keeps coming back to the same flower (sunflower family) at Herb Garden. I forgot to change the aperture.
This little metallic green sweat bee was out feeding on the grayhead prairie coneflowers and was covered with pollen. It's certainly a challenge shooting the coneflowers in the wind here...

It's raining and will be possibly be for a few days so no real bees in sight.

Large bee-fly (Bombylius major) perched on a leaf.

Honey bee swarm showing waggle dance. This swarm was arranged on a pear tree at Copped Hall in the walled garden and had been forming for 3 days. Just after I had taken pictures our bee keeper arrived to knock them into a box for transportation to one of our hives - we already have 2 active.
Sorry it's a bit shaky but I didn't have a tripod with me and had to hand-hold.
