When someone says the city name Kobe, you'll automatically think Kobe beef. While yes, that's true and it is life changingly delicious, Kobe offers more than just beef. It is a neat gem for railfans looking for a slightly off the beaten path experience to Kansai.
Winding into the hills northwest of Nagata Ward in Kobe is the Kobe Electric Railway. Also known locally as Shintetsu, this private railway serves the suburban communities north of Kobe from Shinkaichi near downtown to Sanda in the northeast and Ao in the northwest, both in the heart of beef country. Additionally, their rolling stock is diverse, with the star being their 1960's era 1100 Series EMU's.
Here an 1100 Series climbs the hill outside Nagata Ward with a Semi-Express service for Sanda. In the distance you can see Osaka Bay, and the mountains of Awaji Island.

Our Daily Challenge 22-28 March : Day by Day Magic
Lots of Beeflies these last few days.
No macro photos today, brisk North wind!
Mongolian Beef, a stir fry of flank steak, scallions, and a sauce made from soy sauce, ginger, garlic, brown sugar, and cayenne to taste. Served over or with rice, which can be seen mounded in the background. This is a staple of Chinese restaurants in the U.S., although I suspect it's origins in this form are likely to be far from Mongolia. For 2016: one photo each day (212/366)
