It was a little cool out and cloudy, so the bees were moving rather slowly. Halfway through taking photos, though, the sun came out and they became more active. I still managed to get a few good shots.
Bees are notoriously hard to capture... These three cooperated nicely. (genus: Apis) They had gathered on an unexpectedly late flower on the date palm outside Edward's window in November, 2014.
The Bee Barn - This is the top bar hive built by our friend. It seemed the worker bees were landing on the drones and dragging them to the ground.

I was lucky to catch the bumble bee just as it landed. The frangipani smells like gardenias and lemons mixed together. Check out the large size on this one. There's a tiny spider on the upper right petal.
unfortunately, they no longer seem drunk on pollen, they are starting to fly at me. after seeing my dear husband and good friend get stung by a huge bumble bee at knucklefest, i have no desire to get stung. for some reason they are angrier, maybe desperation is taking over. i'm still not afraid of them. not as much as i am afraid of golf carts.
4-H Clover College is a four-day series of hands-on workshops for youth presented by Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County. Emphasis is on science, agricultural literacy, healthy living, career development and citizenship/leadership. Many of the projects made during the sessions are eligible to be exhibited at the Lancaster County Super Fair in July.
2021 Clover College featured 48 workshops with 93 youth who participated (varying from 1 to 15 classes each) with a total 627 class registrations. New workshops this year included: “Virtual Reality Building,” “All About DNA,” “Decorative Couching (sewing technique),” “Steak Science,” “On the Bike Path (bicycle safety),” “Derby Cars,” “Pop Can Casting (fishing know-how),” “Loom Weaving,” and “Care Blankets.”

Last night, I found this bee standing motionless on the glass pane of my terrace door. It was still there this morning so I assumed the poor thing must be numb from cold. Not that it is very cold over here, but we've had such a dramatic drop of temperatures over the last few days: last week, our night figures were the same as the day figures in South California!
I didn't realize that it was chilly in the first place because I had mistaken my brand new hot flashes for hot and stuffy weather... Lovely! While walking Enya this morning, my glasses suddenly mist although we were in the low sixties... *rolls eyes*
Speaking of weather, I was caught under a heavy downpour on my way to the transfusion center this afternoon, and spent the next hour lying on the couch in my soggy pants and shoes. Ew!
On the bright side, I got a lovely post mail from Carmel (NY) with a sample of the card this contact had got made from one of my photos...
Oh! and my little bee has finally recovered from its numbness and flown away.
