This equally lethargic little bee was a bit easier to work with for a macro as the flower was more out in the open even though the sky was still dark. Both of my little bees moved v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y.....

Wet miner bee rescue.

Found this miner bee swimming about in the bucket of waste water whilst I was doing a partial water change on my tropical fish tank. Not sure but assume it must have been sitting on the watering can of fresh water. Anyway rescued it on my finger and let it dry out there. Quite hard to grab and setup a camera with a bee on your finger :)

Loaded with pollen, this bee flew directly into the photo as I was trying to line up the shot.

I think this is a Carder Bumblebee - it was probing the tiny flowers here with a tongue that looked to be about 10mm in length/

I was surprised to see that bumble-bees were more common than honey-bees. Taken during a mid-summer visit to Scotland. More info and tags to come.

At #FamilyDayMIA: May Flowers, we fluttered around the MIA as we bundled beautiful bouquets of paper flowers, made friendly pet rocks, started our own miniature gardens, and gathered round for family-friendly songs from musician Amanda Grace. We also met worker bees from The Beez Kneez, tried on a beekeeper suit, sampled some honey, and saw a real beehive in action.

Yes it is that time of year, and if you spend enough time outside staring at critters you will see it too. I have seen several insects mating recently and have several photos of this as well as another species.

This guy is taking a drink from one of the flowering plants in front of my house in San Jose. Captured using a tripod and a set of extension tubes, I believe.

This bee (Andrena sp?) is about 10 mm long. See other pics for a VERY tiny wasp. (Probably parasitic.)
