First bee of spring. Taken hand held while he sat on the window sill

366 challenge day 164 - 12th June. I was in the garden watering the plants and I noticed this Bee so I grabbed a few photos of him. I was using my 30mm macro lens so I had to get really close to get this shot and he started waving his leg at me.

i have tried for a few years to get dandelions to grow in pots on my patio, with limited success. this year i had several doing well, and today i saw all but one had disappeared. odd, but not a catastrophe, of course, and only after a neighbour dropped by while i was messing about with the pots did i learn that she'd seen the weeds in my garden and decided to help out by removing them.

i didn't have the heart to tell her i'd been deliberately growing them. the flower and bee above are not in my garden.

Mining Bee. Still working on the id.

Doing a good job of pretending to be a Bee.

Probably a Megachile species; I haven't been able to get a better ID than that. Slightly smaller than a honeybee. In the Onion Creek Greenbelt, Austin.

Mr. Tipton hollowed out these logs to make very productive bee hives. Note the tiny entrances carved at the bottom front.

William "Fighting Billy" Tipton was born February 13, 1761 in Shenandoah, VA. He was the fourth son of John Tipton. Fighting Billy was the first Tipton to move into the Cove, and he contributed to the Cove survival with forging and milling operations.

William "Fighting Billie" Tipton was the son of Col. John Tipton of Carter County, both veterans of the Revolutionary War who acquired considerable recognition for their prowess on the battlefield.
