This tavern once bustled with activity. Judge Nathaniel Ewing of Uniontown built it about 1830, then sold in in 1840 to James Sampey, who ran the tavern with his family. Mount Washington Tavern was a stage stop for the Good Intent Stage Line, one of many stage lines using the National Road. This was one of the finer taverns along the road, catering to stagecoach passengers.
Once inside, travelers cleaned up from their long day's trip, then ate a hot meal in the dining room. Later, the women gathered in the parlor while the men congregated in the barroom. There were no private bedrooms. Men and women slept in separate rooms, usually fully clothed, and sometimes shared bedspace. Often awakened before 5 a.m., they continued on their journey.
Outside the Mount Washington Tavern stood a stable, shed, and other outbuildings. The tavern's stables provided fresh teams of horses for the Good Intent Stage Line. These stagecoaches—pulled by teams of four—changed horses every 10 to 15 miles during their 50- to 70-mile trip each day.

Bedspacer is a unique Phillipino terminology for someone who shares a room, it literally means "bed space available".
This concept of "bedspace" or "bedspacing" is common in the Philippines mostly offered to students coming from the province who go to the major cities to attend university. Many of these students come from poor families and on a tight budget and cannot afford to rent a single room for themselves. To cater to this market, enterprising pinoys develop the concept of "bedspace". Depending on the size of the room, they put two to four double decker beds and they offer for rent the individual bedspace. The more bedspaces in a room, the cheaper the rent for each person.

City Point, built as speculative offices in the noughties. They must have thought they were on to a good thing - just out of the city centre, free car parking, much lower rent. However, the relative strength of the student housing market saw it converted into 159 'exquisite bedspaces over 6 floors, ideal for anyone looking to become part of the vibrant Liverpool student community', in 2014/5.
It's better than most student blocks, possibly because the original architects designed Grade 1 office space, but there is one thing I loathe about it.

Our new gang – headed by Joel, “le chef” and complimented by Jean, Jacques and Fritz (a Dutchman who had walked from Rotterdam – almost 2400 kilometers away) was well and truly formed by the time we got to Cacabelos’ excellent municipal auberge. We didn’t walk together often, but we did keep track of each other, holding onto bedspaces for one another.
What we all shared was a strong desire to see the task done. With Joel’s inclination towards pre-booking rooms (and Darcy’s ability to do so in Spanish on Jean’s cellphone) our group was mutually reinforcing, reassuring, and besides being 83 percent male, way way more fun than travelling just the two of us.

Cuyahoga County mens' homeless shelter getting 100-bed expansion...More than a year after Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish forced homeless men out of an Independence hotel and onto the streets, his promise to increase bedspace at the county’s men’s shelter is coming to fruition.
County council, last month, approved a nearly $4 million contract to expand the men’s shelter at 2100 Lakeside Ave., to add 60 semi-private living spaces and surge capacity up to 100 beds. The addition will increase the shelter’s total capacity to 435 beds.
Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, which runs the shelter for the county, will be spreading out into the 14,000-square-foot building next door.
The space is being renovated into two-bunk compartments, offering residents a little more privacy than open room or dorm-style bunking.

Another night of more pilgrims than available bedspace. This albergue was setting up overflow mattresses out on the patio. The final 10 days of walking became a bit of a nightmare with too many pilgrims. The government declared a state of emergency and got the situation handled. Cool.
