Our Daily Challenge ... noise.
I needed a new clock and I wanted one which didn't glow because I like it to be nice and dark in the bedroom at night. After looking for quite a while I found this little cutie. Unfortunately some nights the sound of it ticking as I try to go to sleep is so loud I have to put it in the drawer. And for such a small clock the alarm is really loud ... the neighbours can probably hear it go off!

Just a fun shot....my last night in London before flying back to Mexico City, and first selfie of 2014 :)
This one is part of a series that I made as final project for my Photography studies. I'm re-editing all the pictures; it's not that I don't like them how they were when I did them for the project, it's just that the pictures were asking me for some touch ups, so I'll be uploading them during the next weeks. The series is about strange characters (what I like about it is that the viewer can imagine whatever he/she wants).
Model here is one of my pretty cousins, Georgina :)
Better in lightbox ;)
The whole series was inspired by this Brooke Shaden's image.

Photo 113/365 - 23 April 2010.
Honestly I don't even know where the inspiration for this photo came from. I had a second entry to do for Sub-12 brief "Wish you were here". I could have pulled out another holiday photo but I chose not to.
So this morning whilst rummaging though my desk drawers for some stamps, I came across the infamous love cuffs courtesy of freocookster and lonefemaletog. It has been a while since these cuffs have made an appearance in my Project 365 and I was wondering what I could use them in next.
A warped imagination kicked in and I thought what the hell, I can only give it a go. It is a very out there reinterpretation of "wish you were here". Yes it's adult themed, but only in the imagination sense rather than real portrayal. Thanks to my wife for agreeing to model her hand and arm in it.
I have been posting lots of trips from travels and outings (and still working on more to come from Paris!) but today I am enjoying being at home.
A bit over the top, but I love it; the monochrome palette keeps it from hedging into migraine territory. Wallpaper and fabric are 'Salcey' from Osborne & Little.
For our 3 night visit to Colima we chose the Hotel Boutique Hacienda del Gobernador. 6 rooms converted from an 1883 built home of Gildardo Gómez Campero, Governor of Colima from 1887 to 1893. Yes, we booked the Suite Principal and it was very nice.
About the Hotel:
Built in 1883, this home has always been an architectural landmark of Colima. Its imposing structure with columns, arches and high ceilings served a dual purpose in its time. The first, functional, allowing good visibility and better ventilation during warm days and the second social, given the high status of its owner, the building reflected his wealth and political power.
Until 2009, the house belonged to the descendants of Don Gildardo Gómez. Over time, a property of such dimensions becomes increasingly difficult to maintain and the family divided the property into different apartments for rent them until the late 90´s. The quality of the construction of the Property has passed numerous tests, surviving intense earthquakes that shaked the city through the twentieth century.
Finally the house of Don Gildardo Gómez received recognition in 1994 as cultural heritage by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH). From that date, all subsequent improvements are bound by strict rules of preservation of the built heritage.
As its name suggests, the Hacienda del Gobernador was the residence of Gildardo Gómez Campero, Governor of Colima from 1887 to 1893. Born in Ciudad Guzman in the State of Jalisco (45 minutes away from Colima), Gildardo Gómez was orphaned from the age of nine years and moved to Colima to live with his relatives. He began his career working in a print shop, he soon became interested in journalism and founded two newspapers in the 1870´s.
His professionalism soon led him to political functions. From 1880 he worked on different areas as Vital Records Judge, First Officer with Governor Francisco Santa Cruz, Federal Senator and president of the Standing Committee of the Senate. Gildardo Gomez got elected Governor of Colima on November 10, 1887 and reelected on November 10, 1891, his second mandate was abruptly interrupted on November 29, 1893, when he submitted his resignation to President Porfirio Diaz. President Diaz offered him the position of Consul of Mexico in Spain, however, Gomez decided to stay in Mexico and work until his death in 1907 in the state of Guanajuato.
His greatest achievements coincide with the vision of his era, attached to the principles of the Porfiriato, he invested in public infrastructure, road construction, and development of the railway system in the state. The historic centre of the city of Colima owes its kiosk in the "Jardin Libertad" to him, who imported it from London, England during his mandate.

I fell asleep after 4.30 am last night, and I woke up at 6.30.
I had the great idea to catch a cold, so I blowed my nose for the whole night, and now it's still blocked.
I spent all the day in my bad watching dexter on tv. I'm sleepy and tired.
I need an overdose of caffeine, if I wanna go out tonight.
but I think I uploaded this diptych only to show you the new color of the walls in my room
(the pink/magenta/fuxia in the background). I just love it :D

Austin hosted its annual Museum Day on Sunday, September 18, 2016. Mike and I took advantage of the opportunity to enjoy free admission to several museums and historic homes. Our third stop was the Neill-Cochran House Museum (2310 San Gabriel St.).
In 1855, Washington and Mary Hill commissioned master builder Abner Cook to construct a Greek-Revival-style house northwest of downtown Austin. The Hills never lived in the house; its current name refers to two families who lived here after the Hills built it. Colonel Andrew and Jennie Chapman Neill purchased the house in 1876, and it was later sold to Judge Thomas and Bessie Rose Cochran in the 1890s. It was subsequently acquired by the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of Texas in 1958 and converted into a museum.
Today, the first floor reflects the Neills' occupancy during the Victorian era, while the second floor reflects the Cochrans' residency. Here, you can see one of the home's bedrooms. An informational booklet and display card provided a few details on this room:
1855 Bedroom
Washington and Mary Hill never moved into the home they commissioned from Abner Cook in 1855. However, by the mid-1850s, several grand homes had been constructed in Austin, and fine furnishings could be found throughout Texas. This room reflects the styles of the era -- late Empire into Victorian.
The Victorian-style half-tester bed has the earliest Texas provenance in the Neill-Cochran House Museum collection; its headboard features intricately carved flowers. Other furnishings in the room date to the Federal and Empire periods. A walnut dressing table with mirror features six small drawers and Tuscan-style columns for the front legs. Both the mahogany armoire and the walnut chest of drawers have deep pillar and scroll Empire-style features. The walnut drop-leaf bedside table also features scrolling, has two leaves and two drawers, and, like the bed, came to Texas in the 1840s. The round-top leather trunk has a dropped-forged metal trim. The large size reflects a reality of 19th-century travel -- guests visited for months at a time.
Following is more detailed information on a few of the key pieces shown here, as listed on a nearby display card:
Half-Tester Bed
American, circa 1846. Attributed to Prudent Mallard. Purchased in New Orleans in 1846 by Judge Ruben A. Reeves and his bride Sarah en route from Kentucky to Palestine, Texas, to make their new home. Reeves later became Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court and was appointed Justice of the Court of New Mexico Territory.
Gift of Mrs. R.W. McClendon (1969.03.01)
Bedside Table
British, circa 1820–1850. Drop-leaf walnut table. Features a shaped pedestal, four under-curved feet, and two drawers, each with a wooden knob.

GONE--BUT ABOUT TO MAKE A RE-APPEARANCE: This cart is based on an old French bakery rack, just as its larger sister is, but the small size means this is great for many uses. Side table in the living room, bedside table--bar cart. Everyone needs a bar cart! Non drinkers can muddle mint and lime and demerara sugar and mix it with Schweppes soda water. No, really. Really!
