...my bedroom. ;-)

My night table in a casa particular :-)))

Home sick today, looking at the stack of reading materials on my bedside table. Thinking about a recent tagging and new tag game (breaking he rules here) - take a picture of your bedside table or drawer and let us know what's there.

Happy Reading and Tagging

Hinton Ampner, a local National Trust Property, excells each year with Xmas deco. Here's the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood, the theme this year being Grimm's Fairy Tales. I had to smile at the way he has left his false teeth in a glass on the bedside table!

It's been a long and exhausting day. From shopping to going to the movies to going BACK shopping and then out to dinner. Not to mention the fact that my camera was dead this morning so I couldn't take it with me. I just got home a little while ago and I'm too tired to be creative. I'm going to go get in the bed and read a bit before I go to sleep. This little guy is my monkey lamp on my bedside table. I <3 him :-)

another long day tomorrow. not sure when i'll get caught up with you guys. sorry.

'night...

In the Artificial life album/set

Polly: Why can't I have breakfast in bed?

Sindy: You will, when it's your birthday.

Polly: Ugh! It's never my birthday. Eeeevery body else has birthdays ALL the time. I sang at one recently you know.

Sindy: Yes I heard. Quite a spectacle.

Polly: That curtain on your head is a spectacle.

Sindy: It's for keeping my curls in place you wicked girl. You could use one.

Polly: I rather die! But I guess old people like you need it.

Sindy: Polly! I just turned 17, not 71.

Polly: Same, same. Can you read me this book?

Sindy: No!

Polly: If you do, I'll invite Batman to your party. I've been to his house don't you know. And I won't mention you have a curtain on your head.

Sindy: It's not a ...!! Batman? The little one or the big one?

Polly: Both.

Sindy: *scooting over* Climb in and hand me that book.

"Soon they were both lost in the world of Dorothy, Toto, The Tin Woodman, Scarecrow, The Cowardly Lion and all the rest in the land of Oz. Sindy would have missed her own party if it wasn't for mum, poking her head in to see where the young miss had gone."

Old houses in the Árbæjarsafn Museum in Reykjavík. This was normal, once upon a time, not too long ago, and quite a lot of people remember items like these. When I switched memory cards in my camera, I thought to myself: will I one day go to a museum and see my Canon, my photo gear... as antique old-fashioned stuff? No... just wait a couple of years...

Árbæjarsafn is the historical museum of the city of Reykjavík as well as an open air museum and a regional museum. The living environment of past generations is re-created in an authentic manner. The museum's purpose is to enhance interest, understanding and respect for the history of Reykjavík, and to ensure that everyone has access to the city’s cultural heritage.

(My personal favorite! This bedroom was exciting, sexy and very different!)

Yes, the wall paper was a fresh orange with an oriental bird motif. The orange was tempered nicely with rich black and cream accents.

(Except for these hidden pops of color under the nightstand - a delightful find!)

on black please!

I spent great part of the morning making a lens hood (cuting it out from a carton of cereals -.-") just to take a silly heart shaped bokeh shot, so this is my photo of the day.

“There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those we spent with a favorite book.”

{ Marcel Proust }

This is the corner of my room that I love above all: a bedside table that I've dreamed for many, many years, with my favourite plant and two green books that I love, Marcel Proust's Days of reading and a book of Celtic's Legends.

It is a simple photo, without presumptions, that gives to me calmness, maybe only 'cause every morning seeing this corner I smile and I feel at home.

Please respect my work.

Not only stupid images.

even those who know my room have not recognized my stuff in it, so i suppose the objects were transformed in something else by the picture

I only have a lamp on my bedside table so making it look interesting was the biggest challenge for today's topic. This was the best I could do.

Bedside Table is the Topic for 12 December 2010

Tyne and Wear Archives presents a set of images taken by the Newcastle-based firm Turners (Photography) Ltd. They were taken by the firm on is own account for possible use in their advertising campaigns. Turners frequently hired models to help promote their work and to encourage sales in their shops. Some of the shots are humorous or bizarre while others are quite suggestive.

The images are fascinating for what they tell us about the times that produced them – the fashions, the attitudes, the technology … Most of the images are quirky and almost seem to invite comments. If you’d like to suggest alternative captions we’d be delighted to hear them!

This week was a lazy week. It's probably appropriate that I'm posting this late. Sometimes you have to take a moment to relax, soak in the good things of life and allow yourself to grow.

This unoccupied castle, Château de la Forêt, is a stunning Neo-Tudor style building. Built in 1860 the Castle sits in the middle of a forest with a large estate grounds. The Château is not technically abandoned, From what I have been able to establish the property was left to a group of descendants who are unable to agree upon a single owner...

A Year in Books: 2019

In 2018, I continued keeping and stacking up the books I finished reading. A habit that I began in 2017 to track my reading and to create a kind of visual reading list.

Similar to 2017, I read a variety of genres; comics and graphic novels, young adult and children's books, memoirs, and some crime novels and contemporary literary fiction.

There are 31 books on the pile, they are what I read in my spare time. The articles and books I read for work are not included here.

Made it to Explore! (#212 / September 30, 2007)

keep calm and carry on

ive been slowly working at re-decorating my bedroom. nothing major. no new paint or flooring. ive just changed my bedding, gotten some new furniture pieces and added some decorative accents. it's not finished yet (ie, still a few hundred dollars to be spent) but so far i love it.

when i was 14 i had purple walls in my bedroom. now at 27 i have purple sheets, purple throw pillows and a purple bedspread... but since im 27 now and not 14 i prefer to call it eggplant. :)
