This is the whole space that Service Merchandise originally held in Nottingham Square in White Marsh. Bed Bath and Beyond is were the original entrance was and that has had very little changes done to the facade except for the black painted areas that used to be red.
When Service Merchandised was starting to downsize, they carved out warehouse space for Party City. When they did this, the half of the sales floor was taken away. Eventually after the store closed, the Michaels arts and crafts store was added to the space. The lighter block work next to the Michaels entrance is were the exit and parcel pickup area was located for Service Merchandise.

Wicked winds roared through San Diego on this Ash Wednesday, which is also President George Washington’s birthday (in 1732 by the Gregorian calendar). Sustained, from the West 32 to 40 kilometers per hour (20 to 25 mph) and reaching 72 kph (45 mph) or more.
When the gusts were greatest, my wife and I chose to walk around Westfield Mission Valley rather than endure blowing debris and risk being pelted (injured or killed) by falling/flying palm fronds. We started at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, which was absolutely deserted. I mean, day-after-apocalypse abandoned.
I joked with Annie that we had better practice good situational awareness. “You wouldn’t want to be robbed in the store because there is nobody around”. We know that Bed, Bath, and Beyond is having loads of financial, logistical, and organizational problems and assumed that had something to do with the absolute lack of customers. But turns out, probably because of the weather, the whole mall was quiet.
That is, with two exceptions. A line had formed outside the Foreign Exchange booth, which disturbed me because I rarely see anyone there ever. I wondered: What do they know that I don’t? Most, but not all, of the people were apparent Asian heritage. I got to wondering about China, Russia, and unnervingly real possibility of an escalating global conflict. Are they preparing for something imminent that I should be, too?
We continued on to Target, where a reasonably bustling crowd could have exceeded the number of shoppers everywhere else in the San Diego outdoor mall combined.
Returning our story to Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Annie and I passed a clearance table on the second floor close to the elevator and down escalator. My interest turned to the lonely Christmas tree, which was so discarded that no price tag could be found. What’s the discount? Not that we were in the market for one.
I saw strange synchronicity in the moment—meeting of two traditional religious events. Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ. Easter commemorates His death and resurrection; Ash Wednesday begins the march to Easter Sunday. As Christianity.com explains:
"Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and is always 46 days before Easter Sunday. Lent is a 40-day season (not counting Sundays) marked by repentance, fasting, reflection, and ultimately celebration. The 40-day period represents Christ’s time of temptation in the wilderness, where he fasted and where Satan tempted him. Lent asks believers to set aside a time each year for similar fasting, marking an intentional season of focus on Christ’s life, ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection".
While obliviously related, these two holidays don’t typically intersect in the way that I saw them today: A lonely Christmas tree languishing on the first day of the Easter season.

Though a few years old, they still have these maps out for one to take.
This center was originally built in the 1960s with Emporium as the primary anchor and several smaller shops.
However, as time went on, things changed, Emporium closed up following it's acquisition by Macy's and many of the shops were combined into larger tenant spaces facing the parking lots and not the landscaped central walkway.
Price Club (now Costco) also joined the center in the early 1990s, on part of a old residential area and the center's parking lot.
The Emporium building found new life after being gutted to become a multi tenant building, with Buy Buy Baby (former Circuit City) and Barnes &Noble on the first floor. Bed Bath & Beyond and Diddum's Party Store occupy the Second Floor.

This buildings ahead would of been a former Kmart that had evicted. It had served as an anchor to Richlands Mall and was the only store still open. Because it was evicted during the Kmart bankruptcy period, it did not relocate.

The floor mat ended up being a rip-off. Apparently this stuff is super-cheap on Ebay. By paying $5, we paid more-than-new price! We taped the letters together, and then realized that the top is jaggy, and the bottom is smooth, we then we flipped everything upside-down, which made most of the letters backward. Then we put a mylar "space blanket" on it for use with violet wand electrical play. It's nice to not have to directly touch the probe, sometimes.

BACKSTORY: This was another yard sale trip where we didn't record the stats. We got pretty sloppy! We didn't even have any addresses in our predetermined route. We spent $32.00 for a total estimated value of $215.29, leading to a profit/savings of $183.29.
THE TAKE:
* $10.00: digital picture frame, Insignia, NS-DPFO712G, V 1.0H, 7", 800x480, 128MB internal memory, SD/MS/MMC/xD/USB, (EV:$16.72). - Clint has streamlined the process of deploying new picture frames using scripts. We automatically create secondary photo repositories in the native resolution of every photo frame we have. Clint drops 2 option files and runs 1 command, and photos are synced to the picture frame. Perfectly. It's usually worth grabbing one, when we see one, now. We're up to 4 (plus 2-3 dead ones from the past).
* $8.00: train, Christmas, North Pole Express, 33 pieces, forward/stop/reverse/ headlight, Christmas songs, EZTec, locomotive, oil tak car, elves car, box car, caboose, 7 road signs, 12 curved tracks, 8 straight tracks, wireless remote control, item no 37187, barcode 019071378172 (EV:$72.22). - Our nephew, Lincoln, loved the train set when we gave it to him for Christmas! It turned out that he already had the North Pole train, but when you're 3, you can never have too many trains. Also, it had slightly different cars so that worked out anyway.
* $5.00: mat, floor, foam, puzzle pieces, alphabet and numbers (35), 12.75x12.75", red/yellow/purple/orange/blue/green (EV:$1.49). - The floor mat ended up being a rip-off. We taped the letters together, and then we put a mylar space blanket on it so we can use it for electrical play.
* $4.00: step stool, purplish (fuchsia) with white polka dots, collapsible, 11x8.5" stool part, 12.5x10 leg span, 9" high (EV:$9.97). (This is apparently not pictured)
* $1.00: stacking desk file trays (3), plastic, black, 13x9x3" (EV:$1.90). (These are not pictured either)
* $1.00: pot, small, with lid, Anolon Advanced, hard-anodized nonstick, 1 1/2 qt / 1.4L, T Q06, 5.5" diameter, 12" span with handle (EV:$55.99). - We haven't used that small pot yet, but it's with our camping gear, waiting for us to go camping again. Seems perfectly-sized for camping.
* $1.00: shower grip handle, MHI, suction mount (EV:$10.30). - This definitely helps us out when we are in the shower. We had given one to Clint's grandma many years ago.
* $2.00: drying rack, telescoping, folding, yellow and gray plastic, Hangaway, (EV:$29.00). - The drying rack came in handy when our dryer broke! We already own one, but with a broken dryer, you really need 4 or so. (We hung the excess off the various lines running on our ceiling, and various Christmas lights. It was a crappy 4 months, manually drying our clothes inside.)
* $FREE: ball, bouncing, green, Minions, ~8" diameter, Hedstrom, CPSIA phthalate compliant, A2805, barcode 033149106272, (EV:$14.06). - We got that green bouncy ball just in time for the Green party.
* $FREE: ball, bouncy, orange with yellow, ~2" diameter, (EV:$3.64)
