for Beautiful Bee Butt Thursday

This one has quite dramatic yellow bands. I seem to now have 3 hives with quite a lot of bees with yellow bands. I do try to strive to have all dark bees (with Irish black bee provenance) and I bring in Queens from the Belfast Association breeding program each year but queens that mate locally at my house do end up producing a proportion of workers that look like this.

If i am completely honest the yellower ones do actually take a pretty picture!

...again, a dangerous drinker on the edge of one of the goldfish tubs.

Finally got out to take some photos and tulips were out in many gardens. I love these red ones but like the other colours as well. The red colour is in great contrast to the background greenery of the garden.
