Just arrived today my newest Bellamy. Bellamy really is one of those dolls I can never pass up and this version has a lot of fun features with his crimped fringe, nose piercing and freckles. I took his hair down from the ponytail because I wanted him to look more romantic. He ended up looking more like a Beast or Tarzan 🙈. I was thinking of removing the freckles and nose ring but they somehow suit his vibe and feel part of him so I will leave them for now. The pants were just the first things I had to hand...

Always attack the one without the Shadow. 6 Legged, 2 Tenticled, Displacer Beasts were a mainstay of random encounters in the Plains. This was built almost entirely of Mixel parts .
Moellenkampi Beetle (Chalcosoma moellenkampi) - Danum Valley, Malaysia
This huge beetle flew in from the jungle one afternoon as we were having dinner. I posted a photo of this beetle a while back but I initially misidentified it as an Atlas beetle, one of its close relatives. After doing a bit of reading and looking at the horns I'm pretty sure this is Chalcosoma moellenkampi. This species is a dynastid rhinoceros beetle endemic to Borneo, they will spend several years living in the ground in their larval stage. The conditions and amount of food they get when larvae will determine the size of their horns when they are adults. Only the males have horns and will use them to fight other males over females, larger males are more aggressive as they are more likely to win fights while smaller males are sneakier and avoid physical altercations with bigger males, instead preferring to mate while bigger males are busy fighting. I thought this was a very impressive beetle but after looking at photos, I can see that some individuals have much bigger horns than this. In terms of body size these beetles are among the strongest animals easily being able to lift many times their own body weight. To prevent this beetle from flying away while I retrieved my camera we covered it with a bowl, this didn't slow the beetle down at all and he marched around pushing the bowl around without any problems.
Volcanoes can be beautiful both active and innactive, as the case here. This one played havoc with European air traffic a couple of years ago. The mountain / glacier is sometimes referred to as "E15", probably because it begins with E, and 15 letters follow. Eyjafjallajökull.
