I don't normally take photos of others without their permission. I respect their privacy... Even though being one of the rare Caucasians in Xian, Everyone does it to us constantly. For some reason they always want to take pictures with me and my son. Even though we don't know them, and we are far far from being any kind of celebrity. We are just normal folks trying to eke out a living on this Earth, but having fun doing it in another culture. Such an eye opening experience. Wish everyone would try it.

You would see all of those distasteful comments of other cultures, from others that know nothing but their homelands, pretty much stop. If you keep your mind open that is.... There are some things about this culture that can drive you mad. There are other parts that are so much more amazing than anything I have ever seen. And every once in a while I get to see an old man like this, and wonder what his life was like 30-50 years ago as a young man, and how much it must be different for him now. I wonder if he still recognizes his culture...

I still love the good ol' USA. In fact I took its' beauty and diversity for granted before I came here. But after traveling so much... I don't take anything for granted anymore. I look at streams like Meadow Mom's or Scott Hudson's

And I see they see the things I missed back home. The history. The beauty. The culture... I love looking at their streams, and any of my friends wandering around on mine should go look at theirs.... Put's mine to same. But I am thankful to call them friends. Even from 5500 miles away they have shown me what I want to go back and see when I repatriate.

Check out the face animal!

Unfortunatly nextdoor called in Kirkless pest control and they have since removed the poor animal :/ How I miss thee!

It's been a week since I made the change from not having shaved to "I'm going to grow a beard". I thought now I'm over 40 I might as well have a proper go at it.

It's starting to get a little itchy but this is supposed to pass.

Am going to let it grow for 4-6 weeks then get it shaped at the barbers.

I hope it looks good!! and to be honest I'm not exactly the best looking guy to start with so it can't really be any worse!!

BTW Yes I know my hair needs cutting... I'll do it tomorrow

Loving the refelctions in Beard Brook, Hillsborough, New Hampshire. It varies widely depending on shutter speed.

Believe it or not, but this Goat's-beard (Tragopogon pratensis) is actually in tower in this shot - it’s one of those odd flowers that only opens at certain times of the day, in this case, in the morning.

I grew a beard for the Tree & Leaf Beard contest.

Blugh! I've been working like a dog, trying to get some pages done before I leave for Heroes Con on Wednesday. I put in nine hours of inking today to kill off another "extremely difficult" page. Only four remain!

And since I was gone two weekends ago, and I'll be gone this weekend, I decided to write the "intro" page (inside front cover) for Phase 7 #007, which IS tallied in the Basewood percentage. So I penciled that today, and I'll ink it tomorrow, which should bump up my stats to even out the time I've been away from the drawing board.

Also, even though it has been rainy and cool in VT the last few days, it still gets really hot in my apartment, hence the beard-ponytail (what sort of animal tail would that be?) so I can get some air on my neck and the bandana to keep my damn hair out of my eyes. I turned the crazy up to 10 for this one!

Perhaps a relative of Radagast the Brown?

131/365. A shot from the hip.

Beards are still VERY fashionable in London. They even had an exhibition dedicated to them.

I've been growing mine for a while and have always had degrees of unshaven. James just shaved off his Movember and has decided to try growing a beard for the first time. One smooth faced gent, one already hairy face. Where will it end? What will we look like? Will we ever be found attractive by a woman again......

I asked this guy if I could photgraph him. He said I must be the hundredth person to ask him that.
