I've said for a while now that I have a calico beard. Blonde... Red... Brown... Black... and now White are all represented. Another year gone. Another gray hair or ten.
Not complaining... Just saying...
The Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade takes its name from Christopher Street in New York’s Greenwich Village — the site of the 1969 Stonewall Riots, a pivotal moment in the fight for gay rights. Today, CSD events across Germany and Europe serve as both celebration and protest: a vibrant declaration of pride, equality, and remembrance.
The parades mix politics, performance, and pure joy — floats, music, banners, and countless individual expressions of what it means to live openly and love freely. Whether loud or intimate, each image from CSD captures part of that shared spirit of liberation.
Awesome gift I received for my birth day and beard! This oil is straight up amazing. The oil is made from organic materials found in the Appalachian Mountains, the aroma is so delightful!
Visit The Mail Room Barber Co. to find some for yourself!
Probably the most manic of the collection. Why are all those children wearing fake plastic beards. For some reason I'm leaning towards a Rolf Harris explaination, or it could be something even more sinister than that.
[This is not my photo. I bought a box of slides at a car boot sale a few years ago and inbetween the art pictures and oddly images of Apollo 16 were a series of photos of holidays, weddings and family life. They have an erie quality to them which suggests not only a different time and place but also reality as though they mean something other. I'm posting them in case anyone has any idea what that might be.]

Peter Beard is an influence of mine mainly because I love his use of mixed media. I really admire how he uses a collage style to make his work feel more like journal pages and more personal than traditional photograph. It’s also amazing to read which various and random materials he uses in his image, sometimes they include feathers, blood and other found objects.
Three species of beard lichen from the same area, left to right:
Usnea scabrata
Alectoria sarmentosa
Ramalina thrausta
All three were found on the lower twigs of doug fir in open mixed birch-conifer forest ~3000' in Canyonlands district of Wells Gray Provincial Park, BC.
Alectoria sarmentosa prefers higher elevation than Ramalina, becoming the dominant species in moist montane hemlock or spruce forests in the Pacific Northwest. Note the smooth branches with small blackened spots and tips.
Usnea scabrata seems to prefer areas with more frequent mist or fog, e.g., near ponds or creeks, but that might just be the local preference. Note the abundant tiny fibrillose and isidiate side-branches.
Note the gnarled sorediate tips of Ramalina thrausta. It is also more straw-colored than the other two species, which tend to have more usnic acid and are correspondingly greener-looking.
In other regions, other species of Usnea replace U. scabrata. Several species have long-pendent forms which closely resemble Alectoria sarmentosa and Ramalina thrausta, e.g., U. longissima, U. filipendula, U. trichodea, U. cavernosa, etc. Note that all species of Usnea have a minute rubber-band-like central cord. This is easily observable in the field by taking hold of one thickish branch and stretching it until it snaps.
This is Robert. He hasn't cut his hair or beard in 18 years. The short one is his hair. The other one is his beard. He ties it up in folds. Truly amazing.
or Travellers Joy to give it it's proper name.....I think the seed heads, are far nicer than the flowers....they looked lovely.....just like an old mans beard.....
I liked the autumn colours behind it too.

An Ode to Fish Beard Phil
With a beard so wet and blue as this
It's no surprise it's home to fish
Bass and marlin and tuna too
Even a few whales big and blue
When Phil needs a feed he casts a net
Into his beard and his need is met
It's fish for breakfast, lunch and tea
That's fine with Phil the sea zombie
See you next time
