Herringbone bracelet made from seed beads. Design by June Wiseman. Completed June 28, 2012 by Auralesque hi-res bead art.

My favourite colours again; pink and orange! Made with lots of Swarovski crystals, and tiny 15/0 seed beads. A pattern by Michelle Meinhold.

I believe that this wonderful bead covered basket was made in Morocco or some other country in North Africa. The unbeaded basket in the previous photo looks like this basket without its beads. The glass beads are sewn to fabric that was used to cover the fibers of the original basket (This basket may be Hausa from Nigeria)

This doll is a visual representation of my life from age 40 to 50 years old. At age 40, I took up folk dancing in a big way, eventually becoming a leader and choreographer of a dance ensemble performing Hungarian folk dances. I made many trips abroad to learn about folk culture, art, beading, songs and dance. Note that each doll in the series has red shoes.

This is a embroidered cuff bracelet with red-black howlite, chrysocolla bead, lava bead, Swarovski rivoli (crystal golden shadow, jet) , shell beads, golden tibet silver beads, japanese Toho seed beads and Czech glass beads.

This is a simple embroidery I've done on a cast gunmetal black filigree (approx. 46 mm across). A bit of an experiment where I wanted to see how useful these jewellery components could be in embroidery. Have stitched beads on filigree before, but this was the first time I used cotton floss.

On my blog, I wrote this about it:

"My idea was to embroider with cotton floss on a piece of cast filigree sort of in the same way you can use jewellery components like these for embroidered jewellery. (That type of components can also be used for beading and just plain odd things.)

This filigree is cast and has less sharp edges than several of my thin stamped filigrees so I hope it's easier on the soft thread -- my biggest worry, embroidering on metal, is that the hard edges will wear down the embroidery threads."

"I'm thinking of adding a backing of leather, faux skin or somesuch to protect the threads on the back and add findings. Because of that I haven't fastened the floss used to whip the edges as I'll have to redo it, whipping the backing to the filigree. It'll either be a pendant or a brooch. Brooch was my first thought, but I fear the cast filigree might be a bit too heavy for that so a pendant is more likely now."

Note the embroidered eagle, snake, nopal symbol of Mexico’s oral history of its capital city.

A Mexican eagle perched on a.cactus with a snake in its mouth. It depicted the story of choosing where to establish the Aztec central city which eventually became Mexico City.
