Native crafts may not always appear as one may imagine. This unique pouch is just one example of an item made for the tourist trade. Originating in the Great Lakes Region, the pouch is comprised of six individual panels of leather. Fine beadwork helps hide the seams and adorns the edges of each panel in a lazy stitch pattern.

I worked on my spiral beadwork at the Paleoplanet Gathering yesterday.

The top one was made the first year I beaded around 2004. The second is a remake finished this week. I did a new flower design for this one.

I got this idea a couple of weeks ago when I was getting my ears pierced. They've already been claimed, but expect to see more like them in the near future...I had a lot of fun with the idea.
