I spent a good hour with this fellow, lots of photos with branches in the way but managed a few I am pretty happy with, more to come.
"Nestled between the clear waters of Three Valley Lake and sheer cliffs of the Monashee Mountains, Three Valley Lake Chateau is an extraordinary Revelstoke resort destination". (www.3valley.com/)
In 1865 Walter Moberly, government engineer, was searching for a railway route through these rugged Monashee Mountains. He shot at an eagle's nest, and observed the birds fly into a river valley. Following them he discovered this low pass which now carries the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway

Tofino is a small district on Vancouver Island, off Canada's west coast. It sprawls on a peninsula within Clayoquot Sound, characterised by wild natural scenery including lakes, inlets and ancient rainforest. Sandy beaches with year-round surfing facilities include Cox Bay, Chesterman Beach and popular Long Beach, part of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The relaxed town of Tofino sits on the peninsula's tip.

I posted this image a couple of years ago, but thought I'd post it again, as it is so applicable right now. BC is in a state of emergency, with so many wildfires, and tens of thousands of people evacuated. My heart goes out to the many, many people have lost their homes and businesses. Travel has been restricted to anywhere in the Okanagan, which is where everyone goes on vacation in the summertime. Here in North Vancouver, the air is smoky, thick and grey with an orange glow.
I just hope that we get some rain soon, and that the firefighters are able to put the fires out.

Graphic on CTV. As of July 4, 176 wildfires were burning throughout the Canadian province of BC. One town was 90% burned to the ground within minutes.
Already BC's fire season is the worst ever! As of July 15, there have been 1100 wildfires as opposed to the 10 year average up to July 15 of 209 wildfires. While the average number of square kilometres burned by this date in 10 years is 600, this year 2030 square kilometres have been burned in BC.
While most of these fires were caused by lightning after a severe heat wave, some are still human-caused.
To anyone who smokes in areas in wildfire danger zones, please take care not to toss cigarettes on the ground or out of your vehicle. Maybe carry an tin you can put your butts in to throw in the garbage later?
Even smoking with your vehicle windows open can cause cigarette embers flying out to start bush fires! Ever follow someone smoking in their car at night? It's amazing to see the embers flying out....
Do take care. The town or house that gets destroyed by a carelessly tossed cigarette may be your own, or that of someone you love!
The BC ferries are a vital part of living on Vancouver Island. It's either riding these or catching small seaplanes. During the summer months, they are really quite a treat. The views are breathtaking and you often see Killer Whales and dolphins.

One of my favorite photos from our current exhibition with Athena at Artsville Galleries.
All poses are created by Athena, who continues to amaze me with her endless talent!
Thank you to everyone who honored us with your presence there at the opening and to those who will come to visit.

hundreds of thousands of hectares lost, tens of thousand of people evacuated from their homes . . . evidence of the massive wildfires plaguing British Columbia has finally reached Vancouver Island . . .
while many of them are started by lightening, an unforgivable number are human caused (accidentally or purposely . . . what's wrong with people??) . . .
