A great looking tote! Made from 100% cotton batik . Colors are shades of blue, teal and purple. The desing on the bag was created by doing fabric discharge. The design appears to be white in the photo, but the colors of the bag show through in a lighter shade. The entire design has been hand stitched along the outside edges. The bag is lined with a black cotton fabric. This is strictly a tote bag, there are no pockets on the inside of the bag . The bag measures 11 inches wide and 10 inches tall. The shoulder strap measures 17 inches on one side, so total height would be approximately 27 inches.
Added some darker colors and now I will wax off those areas I am done with so they won't pick up the next colors.
Here is the batik I designd and made mid-progress. It's waffles popping out of toasters! The waffles are made from a stamp and I drew the toasters freehand with a foam tip soaked with wax. This is after the first dye job and getting read for the second. All the places that are light tan/white are the places that are the original white of the fabric, the places that are darker (where the wax is) are the places that are left the light green colour and everywhere else is now a dark green (the colour of the second dye). I had a tailor finish the edges of the final product and I now use it as a sheet. Hooray!
As you can see, most are the same design, although being handmade, no two are identical. Near the end there are a few different patterns.
All are hemmed on all four sides, with a wooden dowel at the top and bottom for hanging.
All are approximately 27 inches wide by 34 inches tall, with the exception of the last three.
