Bathurst, South Africa. Apologies to all you guys from Oz. Some people have wrongly assumed this is a picture of Bathurst, New South Wales which has a motor race. DBA have even featured it on their website. I did try to contact them twice some time back but no success so far. I might have to phone them next time I'm in Oz.
The two week Illuminate Bathurst kicked off with the Bicentenary Night Illumination Street Festival. Illuminate Bathurst was displayed on the Court House, Carillon, TAFE Building, Ribbon Gang Lane and Pedrottas Lane from Saturday 9 May every evening for two weeks. Ginetta G50 at the 2012 Bathurst Festival of Motorsport. Debris covered the radiator opening but did not effect the cooling and it completed the 1 hour race.
The Knickerbocker Hotel replaced the earlier Grand Hotel built 1890.
During the Inter War period from 1915 to 1940, there was great architectural change. Examples in Bathurst include the Knickerbocker Hotel in the functionalist style. Bathurst Railway Station opened with the railway on 4 April 1876. The building has been extended but the original section still exists and is heritage listed. It is still in daily use.
