I have no idea what she was talking about, but possibly it had something to do with duck poop.

"Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity."

I didn't think I'd be posting again until my trip to Paris next weekend (THERE IS NO BEING CASUAL ABOUT THAT---PARIS!) but the last few days have actually been noteworthy and I'm more than willing to share - for once.

First: Beyonce's Platinum Edition Box Set is now available for pre-order and will be arriving at my front door on Nov 24th aka in 15 Days. #Priorities

On Friday, my housemate Jess invited several of us to her college, Magdalen, for formal dinner. All of the Oxford colleges have formal dinners but this was my first time attending one. We all got dressed up in our best && I'm proud to say my roommate BELLA (happy?) was dressed 100% Express and looked amaaazing *tear*. The dinner was delicious, the company was the best and Magdalen was absolutely gorgeous just as all of the Oxford Colleges are. I can't fully express my gratitude to Jess for hosting such a lovely evening.

On Saturday we took a trip to Bath. We visited the famous Roman Baths Complex and I was absolutely blown away by its beauty. Each new place I'm exposed to has its own beauty and charm but so far, Bath has been my favorite. The Baths were gorgeous and the town itself was welcoming and pleasant.

After the trip to the Roman Baths we made our way to THE JANE AUSTEN CENTRE. It's a commonly known fact that Austen loved to visit Bath, it's a less commonly known fact that Jane Austen is the author of my FAVORITE BOOK (Pride and Prejudice) that along with typical English major geekiness made this visit spectacular for me. After being welcomed to the centre by a Miss Jane Bennet (all of the staff were characters of Austen's most well known novels) we walked around for a bit and found ourselves trying on 18th Century garb, writing letters with quill feather pens and posing with a wax figure of Austen herself. I died and went to heaven basically.

When we came back from Bath a group of us went to South Park to participate in the 5th of November Celebrations. The 5th of November marks the day Guy Fawkes attempted (and failed) to burn down Parliament over 400 years ago...So naturally, the British remember this day with Bonfires...naturally. We saw fireworks, and saw arguably the biggest bonfire any of us have ever seen. The picture above doesn't do it justice as it grew even larger after I took it. This holiday reminds me a lot of the 4th of July, except scaled down considerably (because Americans go big or go home - always) and much much colder. There was a small carnival along with a band and obviously the bonfire. We rode one ride before we decided we were too exhausted to continue..(and the ride was wicked spinny and we were all fairly nauseated).

This morning my roommate BELLA (haha) and I woke up to a ceremony taking place across the street (wicked convenient) commemorating another British Holiday, Remembrance Day. It's kind of like a combination of our Memorial Day and Veteran's day. All of the veterans and representatives of the British Armed Forces marched down to the memorial (which I live across the street from) and were celebrated with a small ceremony. It was gorgeous and very exciting to watch.

These past few days have been very British indeed and I've enjoyed every second.

How's that for a bloggy update?!

These photos are from Bath, UK. That city is a super place to create memories... the Abbey, Roman Baths, River Avon, the bridge, shopping, architecture, restaurants and more! PhotoSpills software has dozens of designs for any set of photos and it can be loads of fun to try your photos with different styles.

A 'Smeg' refrigerator! Considering how this looks and considering I took this picture in England; you have to wonder what the connection to 'Red Dwarf' is...
