33Days of Halloween

October Halloween Challenge

Not gonna get all wishy washy, but life's been throwing me some curve balls lately so as per usual my photography was the first thing to go.

I'll live...and after recent events it's made me appreciate that even though it feels like I'm drowning in life, atleast I have a life.

So I'm gonna play when I can...and all my awesome ideas i had for 33 days will simply have to go into the thought bank.

The bird bath is definitely the most visited place in the garden and mostly it's used by thirsty creatures of every kind, but on this occasion it was used for the function it was intended for and robin spent a prolonged period splashing and flapping. I was actually quite surprised he was able to fly off afterwards.

Striated Thornbill

Acanthiza lineata

He is getting better and better with baths. Still does not like them, but the first bath I gave him many months ago, he went wild.

Now, he does not try to escape, but does not like his face being done. I can understand why. Very disconcerting to have water around his nose when I spray from the top down.

No water gets in his nose, but he does not like it.

With time, he will trust that getting his face done is ok.

This Grey Seal mother and her pup were playing together in a channel of water. They spent quite a long time splashing about and looked to be really enjoying themselves.

This is Leo, my epileptic cat, having his first bath of the day.

Just after I took this, I started draining the water, and before I could get the rubber gloves back on, he did a poo in the water ... so he had to have another bath.

His next treat, the hairdryer, which he really seems to like.

He does try and wash himself, but every now and then he needs a good shampooing.

PS ... after I uploaded this pic, I went and washed floors, then I checked on Leo, and yep, he'd done another poo in the bath, so he had to be shampooed for a third time .... I'm having a really shitty day :)))) But I still love him.

Bohemian Waxwing - Bombycilla garrulus

Waxwings are an irruptive winter visitor to the UK some years we get 1,000s visiting if the Scandinavian berry crop has failed as the migrate west from Siberia.

This year only small numbers have turned up so the chances of finding any have been quite slim, three in an Apple tree on my usual walking route to Big Waters was a nice bonus.

I’ve got most of the ‘classic’ book photo poses of these birds in previous winters but when one of them dropped to the floor and started having a bath it gave me an opportunity to get something different.
