Nothing new for people who make tessellations, but I thought it would be nice, for those who don't fold, to give a little inside how basics forms can be altered into different shapes. It's a little exploring I started during the summer holidays ;-)

And also I get sometimes the request how the tessellations look like in real, not backlit, so here you are ;-)

Here you see two "different" tessellations, front (left) and backside (right), who are related to each other. They have been discovered by many people, so I call them "Basics".

I accidentally already altered one hexagon ;-))

It is very hard to explain the difference in words( sorry for that), but I do hope you see it.

Here you can see a backlit version. I folded the same patterns but with glassine, which gives such nice results, when backlit, than this paper.

Each folded from hexagon about 17cm, duo-color Kraftpaper, grid 1:32

If you are interested to see more, have a look at my tessellation album "Origami - Tessellation Progression".

While mom's at the market selling vegetables, the menfolk back at the farm are gambling and drinking moonshine! That's a big bottle back there, along the Kaladan river tributaries, Rakhine State, Myanmar.

This night was special. We didn't do anything other than get in our PJs, cuddle our son, and talk. But I think that's what made this moment that special. No dressing up to go out, no crowds, no nothing, just us. It's moments like this that are fundamental of keeping us strong and connected. Everytime we have moments like this I feel that much closer to you Mannie. I love you.

Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.

Captured in September 2019 during an exercise I gave to my Street Photography Workshop for them to look for different angles and perspectives as we walked around. Of course I ensured that the person begging in the shot was suitably anonymised so that the image is for narrative and is not in any way exploitative.

I'm thinking of the millions of people currently displaced across Ukraine. Over 2 million displaced out of the country but countless millions more ran out of their homes to another part of the country, all while being under artillery and rocket fire. I cannot begin to imagine the depths of pain, despair and loss that they are feeling.

I'm also thinking of those displaced and homeless throughout the United Kingdom as a result of poverty driven by the cost of living crisis and Government policy over the past decade. My own energy prices have risen 129% overnight.

I'm also thinking of those displaced out of their homes, steadings and traditional nomadic routes in Ethiopia right now. Years and years of lower than average rainfall are now leading to a famine of the levels not seen since 1985. The building humanitarian disaster is expected to be worse than that thanks, in no small part, to the climate emergency.

We all need water, food and shelter - these basics that are essential for life should be a given in our modern world.

Today I am thinking of those who have been or are being displaced from their homes. I wish I could help more.

This my part of a recent joinup with my friends Tues, Dyms and Does who is over visiting us in Australia for a while.

We only had a few hours and some intermittent rain so we went back to basics with plain white fill and red outline, with the basic bubble backy.

Back to Basics

It was time a really long time since my last visit to the beach of Reis Magos. The choice for the sunrise location was always falling in another spot.

Despite being a fantastic beach in which with the right conditions in terms of tides and light allows a endless number of compositions... but the truth is that i had some hidden resistence and sorrow to go back to Reis Magos.

The search for the perfect shot, the desire that makes us risk everytime a little bit more sometimes preaches us some pranks that sometime we have to pay with our wallet and sometimes with our body :)

It was on a visit to this beach that the sea played a prank on me difficult to forget....

Challenged by Filipe Mendonca, a friend of always for these outings I returned to Reis Magos and a sunrise that didn´t seem nothing of transcendent left his mark!

After finding this composition i was guided by the dynamics of the sea and the drama in sky that brought me this shot that I am very proud !

Although in recent months i have used and abused of the long exposures the truth is that seascape, for me, is this! With

the water sometimes over my knees, and other times even more, looking for THAT composition, THAT dynamic, THAT shot!

This is a Back to Basics for me!

Hope you all like it as mutch as i loved to shoot it :)

I thank you for every like and comment.

I felt certain I’d get an epic taste of the Aurora Borealis during 3 weeks in Iceland, so I was a bit let down at not seeing them during the entire trip. But it’s possible my camera did!

I stayed in a camper van overnight for my first visit to Vestrahorn. Fortunately the flat weather started to clear out just after twilight, so the night sky was an epic juxtaposition of moonlight, clear sky and fleeting clouds.

It wasn’t until I came back to edit the shots that I noticed some strong patches of purple and green. The green was weak enough I figured it was simply a trick of white balance, but the lovely band of purple has me wondering!
