got tired of displaying a nativity set outside for people to see... so i opted to bring out my humble christmas village collection and display it in a mini-theater.
This photograph assignment was heavily inspired by the work of Stephen Shore and his approach to photography. From what I read, Shore is known for documenting basic American environments such as streets, parking lots, commercial spaces, street signs, etc. His photography didn’t really have any emphasis on dramatic events or emotional sides of photos. His approach was to just treat everyday scenes as worthy subjects simply just through his observing eye. This really intrigued me, because unlike a majority of other photographers who focused on capturing emotional events or something that evoked pathos, or just logical thinking, Shore just photographed simply because it was there and everyone could experience viewing it.
In the image I framed parked cars in a lot, palm trees, and everyday commercial food buildings presented in a very straightforward and neutral manner, almost like a child wanting to experiment with cameras. I took the photo at eye level and I used natural mid-day lighting to allow my subjects to appear as casually as they would to someone walking by. There is no central subject or moment of action, which is similar to many of Shore’s unseen and unappreciated aspects of daily life. The photo just allows for many elements to coexist within a frame, which basically lets the viewer interpret the meaning of the photo. I think his work is the perfect connection to Postmodernism through its ability to reject traditional ideas of photography. Rather than trying to capture something dramatic, the photo emphasizes the norm and the familiar sights of everyday life, which I find beautiful in itself, as we don’t usually look at crowded parking lots full of cars as intriguing or a sight to awe at. This really pushes that meaning can be found in every aspect of life and photography no matter how common or everyday the photo looks. I think I could have framed less of the sky, to really bring the normality of the photo, and I could have framed the photo a little better, because the back windshield in the bottom right corner kind of pulls away from the whole photo. I could have also gone even more simple with just a street corner, but I really enjoy looking at cars and even though they’re just an everyday occurrence that we rely on for transportation I find them fascinating to look at, seeing as someone spent time designing and dedicating a portion of their life to bring said car to the market.

Nos debates, a mesa 4, sobre o “Programa Mais Médicos e outras estratégias de Gestão do Trabalho para Atenção Básica”. As 11h, foi a vez da mesa 5 discutir sobre “Processos Pedagógicos na Atenção Básica: Educação Permanente, Educação Popular e Telessaúde”. Às 14h, na volta do intervalo, houve a discussão e aprovação do Pacto pela Atenção Básica no RS.
