I saw Steven walking along the road with my next stranger (Debbie 84/100), and really wanted them both in the project.

It is unusual for me to photograph more than one person at a time, but they both had such great looks that I couldn't resist.

When I asked Steven, he was really into it, and made Debbie hold his bags, before carefully positioning his cap and throwing me some fun poses.

He told me he needed to get his 'swagger on' for the shots- he was a lot of fun to photograph.

My final choice was this portrait, as it really captured the confidence and attitude of Steven- I hope you like it!

Thanks for being in my project Steven- it was great to meet you!

when i was 15, i used this skateboard everyday and it was my life, i then had a nasty accident on it, and broke both the bones in my arm and had to have metal plates and pins put in it. (i still have one big plate and a few pins in there). it was a turning point in my life as i actually did some work at school and got some qualifications, but more importantly this coincided with my interest in art.

if i hadn't have had this accident i would not be the person i am today. i have just sold the skateboard on eBay to clear some space and i have only used this a handful of time since then, and a 33 year old brownhorse does not look good on one!!!

so as a goodbye to my classic deck i took this shot........bye old friend.

I found this at the Adamstown Flea Market. There actually were quite a number of dealers there with photographs. I ran in to one of my Internet dealers who was there as a buyer----I would guess that since the demand is there, the dealers put their photographs out, knowing they have a market. Down here in the Southland, perhaps there are fewer people looking, and thus a dearth of material.

The dealer who had this photo asked me what I liked about it. I just told him it had something special going on. It's great that it's beat-up---that means it was looked at and valued. Thel nickname is great, and the up-from-under angle of the photo is great. Sunshine looks a little bit like Buddy Ebsen. I first got to know Buddy Ebsen when he played Fess Parker's sidekick in Disney's Davy Crockett series. I know he had been around before that, but that was my first encounter with him. He had an aw-shucks, good-ole-boy naturalness to him that I liked. I never liked him quite as much on the Beverly Hillybillies---he was playing a broad stereotype that always seemed hokey, but I'm sure it paid the bills.

Buddy Ebsen was a big-time conservative and Ronald Reagan supporter. Let me tell you, if they ever try to put Ronald Reagan up on Mount Rushmore, I'm getting my dynamite out of the storage shed. But still, I like Buddy Ebsen---he's the kind of solid stock that made America, and Sunshine looks like he fits right in.

He's wearing a baseball cap, but the light and the shadow it makes makes the cap look like a western hat. That's my favorite thing about this photo, besides the creases and the nickname and the angle of the photo. Heck, I like everything about this photo. I'm going right down to the Board of Elections and change my party registration tomorrow.

University of Michigan vs Michigan State Univesity; U of M Stadium in Ann Abor, MI. HUGE, HUGE game. Yearly tradition. Bitter rivals. If you went to Michigan you hate Sate - and if you went to State you hate Michigan. Ben is lucky enough to be at the game this afternoon. He's cheering for the MSU Spartans, which has his aunt (Bean in Sylvan Lake) very disappointed.

I found out today that Pete shares the same birthday as me! We were both born on August 7th. I'm 45 years old today. We're celebrating by going to a French restaurant in San Diego for dinner.

Be sure to wish Pete a happy birthday. ;)

I don't know Shawn's birthday. Wouldn't it be interesting if his birthday was today too?

This was taken at a Flickr Meet at Pete's house.
