Young boy watching a mechanical clock in the Universum Museum in Bremen

Gene's been out here about 35 years. Gene sells flowers by the bridge on Monroe Street. He's just trying to make somebody's day. "Everybody likes flowers", he says. Everybody needs their day made better and that's what he's trying to do. He said homeless people can be business people too. He sells bunches of carnations for $5 and $10 dollars, depending on the size. Gene also sells candy bars when it gets colder. He can't sell them during the warmer months as they melt. That's when he started selling flowers. He has a very nice cart that he holds them in, along with a sign that reads "fresh flowers". He has a couple of spray bottles as well that he uses to keep the flowers fresh out in the sun. He takes great pride in his business. Both he and Fred told me about the new ID cards they got from City Hall identifying them as homeless (their ID card doesn't have an address on it). Fred was the first to point that out. Gene is a very positive person and didn't really have anything negative to say. He seems happy to be out here making people's day a little better. He was very engaging with people and wasn't afraid to be a salesman with people as they passed by. He greeted people and had a few "regulars" who came by as we were talking and he flashed them a smile and a "thumbs up". Gene was eager and willing to talk and enjoyed sharing about his life.

This young teenager stands with a restaurant/bar placard every day and every night in Times Square. It must be hugely tedious, but I guess it's great for people-watching.

More of this guy at the Speedway on Weber Road.

It's a simple shot, but I really like it.

The red drapery was also something I added to goose the shots, and contrast strongly with her skin tone and the white underwear.

We are quite certain, however, that Oliver could win an event on a fence if he had to!

One of the categories which Mr Nikonsnapper and I had to 'find' in our Camera Club photowalk earlier this month was 'People'. We asked various people we saw if it was ok to take their photo (only one person said no). This guy was more than happy to play the fool for the camera.

smiling in a sea of canola

Meet my travel companions from a weekend getaway this past summer to Riding Mountain National Park. While stopped to take the previous post of the canola field against the prairie sky - I had my friend and her son go into the field for a portrait for this years Christmas card. It's probably too bright and cheery for Christmas but I'll let them decide.

A vibrant street photograph bursting with colour, taken outside a café in Sheffield. A woman with striking red hair, wearing a green top and flared jeans, stands with her back to the camera while her companion — a man in an orange shirt and baseball cap — sits at one of the bold yellow metal café tables scrolling through his phone. A small pink cowboy hat sits incongruously on the table beside him, adding a playful splash of colour to the scene. Warm sunlight cuts across the pavement, throwing deep shadows that heighten the richness of the colours.
