doesn't matter how extravagantly you dress or pose, Somerset House can upstage you....

Matt's been out here about a month, waiting for his friend to help him find a place to stay. He'd been waiting for about two hours when I first met him. He wants people to know he's a good person. What motivates him to be out here is the desire for change and the hope for a better day.

...gets everywhere in movie treatments at the moment, sometimes low contrast with murky grey instead of black (a winter's day in a Swedish crime thriller) and sometimes with full contrast - which I generally prefer - I teach how to do it as part of the day job, but as my passion is stills more than movies I work out the variations here ;-)

Rifle shooting pose looks good.

I couldn't resist this shot of a grumpy looking holidaymaker sitting at the edge of St Ives harbour beach. All around him were the sights, sounds and colours of hustling, bustling, loud, fun making kids and adults beneath a glorious sun...I don't think anyone could have looked more bored to tears than him.

I recently purchased some studio lights and equipment. This is one of my first attempts. Only self for model, yet as I'm still learning the equipment and methods.

I would have liked some eye contact, but I suspect he would have fallen off. Best of a series shot quickly as he skateboarded towards me.

(Hmm, Lightroom appears to have uploaded this twice).

Moving right along... Ha!

Approaching my first three strangers was pretty easy. Jane, Margaret, and Rachel; three kind women whose glances were almost "inviting" as I passed by.

Things felt different here, and I almost kept walking. Originally "four", these three, "tough guys" were a bit more imposing. I think it was my own self-consciousness getting in the way; besides, if one of them slugged me; Bill, Jason and I could take on the four of them. Right?!

One of the things I love about Manhattan, is how the lunch hour buzzes with a combined feeling of hunger and satiation, depending on who you see. Tough guy look aside, these three guys happily obliged. Maybe it was because I caught them on a smoke break after lunch. Ahh... satiation! Or maybe it was because there was nothing to feel apprehensive about. This is New York City - Millions of different types of people, standing proud, and happy to show it to the rest of the world!

I found out that Fred, Brian, and Bill, are electrical contractors who were working for Cablevision on this particular day. It was the end of their break, so that's as far as I got but I was quite happy that they shared this New York minute with me.

Thank you, Gentlemen!

Andy Quill (Hot Toys Star-Lord) and Anne Kyle (Hot Toys Catwoman) huddle together to stay warm. OKAY. Actually, they huddle together because they can!

Shhhhh. Don't tell anyone, but her underwear seems to have gotten wrapped around her ankles.

I've had this baseball cap for years...it's been used while playing softball, working around the house, swimming (with it on), covering up my head when I didn't feel like showering, or just wearing wherever. And it's so comfortable!! You can sorta see in the photo that it's very faded and quite dirty but I wouldn't give it up for much of anything...

Early doors at LFW yesterday - a show going on inside, but the street fringe hadn't really started - so I could step back and get all these guys in without treading on anybody or anyone jumping in front of me with a phone....

First attempt at a shot that turned into the one that I used. This isn't bad, it's just boring.
