I would have liked some eye contact, but I suspect he would have fallen off. Best of a series shot quickly as he skateboarded towards me.
(Hmm, Lightroom appears to have uploaded this twice).

Early doors at LFW yesterday - a show going on inside, but the street fringe hadn't really started - so I could step back and get all these guys in without treading on anybody or anyone jumping in front of me with a phone....
Moving right along... Ha!
Approaching my first three strangers was pretty easy. Jane, Margaret, and Rachel; three kind women whose glances were almost "inviting" as I passed by.
Things felt different here, and I almost kept walking. Originally "four", these three, "tough guys" were a bit more imposing. I think it was my own self-consciousness getting in the way; besides, if one of them slugged me; Bill, Jason and I could take on the four of them. Right?!
One of the things I love about Manhattan, is how the lunch hour buzzes with a combined feeling of hunger and satiation, depending on who you see. Tough guy look aside, these three guys happily obliged. Maybe it was because I caught them on a smoke break after lunch. Ahh... satiation! Or maybe it was because there was nothing to feel apprehensive about. This is New York City - Millions of different types of people, standing proud, and happy to show it to the rest of the world!
I found out that Fred, Brian, and Bill, are electrical contractors who were working for Cablevision on this particular day. It was the end of their break, so that's as far as I got but I was quite happy that they shared this New York minute with me.
Thank you, Gentlemen!

I have worked with Chelsea on many occasions - we did this fun roller skating shoot in her garden and a road near her house.

I recently purchased some studio lights and equipment. This is one of my first attempts. Only self for model, yet as I'm still learning the equipment and methods.
Photographs of the 1998 Oracle Chain Gang (part of the Oracle 1998 Halloween competition). The chain gang came in first place and got to have lunch with the VP for the site in Colorado Springs, CO.
Matt was on the southeast corner of Randolph and Michigan. Surrounding him were numerous drawings--Elvis, Bob Marley, etc. "I've been doing art since I was three", he said. "My grandmother was an art teacher", so he would sneak downstairs and use her paints, pencils, etc. She found out and told him, "you don't have to sneak around--I'll buy you some art supplies." He's been out here a year but wants to head south saying, "I don't want to spend another winter here..." He was sleeping outside during the polar vortex of 2019 and told himself. "Just stay under the blankets!"
Trying a Weaver shooting stance, which shows how the weird angle of the wrist makes it harder to do good pistol holds.

I met Rodney walking in the park. He told me that he had travelled a good deal and liked taking photographs of animals in the wild, but not in zoos. He had been to borneo many times and was very enthusiastic, talking to me about the animals he has photographed there. More recently he had stopped his travelling and returned to to place of his birth in the UK. He was happy to have his photograph taken and we carried on the conversation as we talked.

These models were folded with the purpose of diagramming. The design is simmilar to that of an earlier model at www.flickr.com/photos/10595819@N06/4622678731/
An addtional couplet was added to make the shade curved.
Andrew was on the northeast corner of Lake and Michigan. He's been out here since June. "I got divorced and my wife took everything", he said, "then I lost my job", and that's when he became homeless. He stays either on Lower Wacker or the men's hotel on Van Buren (for about $20 a night). "I'm not a druggie", he said and as far as work goes, "I can do pretty much anything".
he was an little man who me and rockcake had a conversation with him on worthing beach. he asked me where is was from i told him brighton. he said it was funny that he has never seen me there before??? i told not really because there is 150,000 of us over there. he still thought it was odd. he also told me that some times youths sometimes throw stones at him, he dose not deserve that
In addition to the red/white/blue clothing and flag-themed backdrop, I also decided I was going to settle on 4 photos for the set. The strawberry blonde had a thong on and it'd be a shame if she didn't prove it in one shot. And I like the way Karen is pumping her fist in this pose.

On the right: near daily wear since the spring of 2016.
For two seasons now I have been thinking I will have to replace my first one, but it keeps hanging in there! I will likely retire it to "display status" at the change of the calendar year, rather than allowing it to fall completely apart.
