You've seen the Studio Building before. It's the one that displays the busts of composers in niches along its perimeter. Originally designed for "cultural uses" in drama and piano teaching, it includes the former Guild Theater, which hung on as a single-screen theater until 2006.
So much for cultural uses.
As to its architect,: Most kids run away to join the circus. Luther Lee Dougan (1883-1983) ran away from home to get an education and employment in architecture. Before coming to Portland in 1903, Dougan worked for Frank Lloyd Wright as an office boy.

I tipped him a buck for the photo and he offered to play a request. I told him to play whatever he wanted. He picked "The Old Rugged Cross", not one I would have picked but so it goes.
This is Bart. Very classic drunk Belgian electronic music man who is never happy. "Where is my champagne"? Etc. Hard, but consistent, and funny.
