The ice bar was design by the first year interior design students of Lahti Institute of Design, on commission from the Lahti skigames. The building was done in co-operation with the company Frostiart, durring two weeks before the skigames 6-8.3.2009
The theme for the bar came from the contrast between fire and ice. The name is a word play with the finnish word "notski", which means fireplace in english. In the center of the bar there is a glowing fireplace entirely med from ice. The fireplace glows in color nuances between red and yellow. The entrance is decorated with two large flames that emerge from the icewall, that surrounds the bar. The ice was lifted from the nearby lake Vesijärvi and has a nice turquoise tone to it.
