A Bar Headed Goose at the coastal enclosure at Birdworld near Farnham.
The Bar-headed Goose (Anser indicus) is a goose which breeds in Central Asia in colonies of thousands near mountain lakes. It lays three to eight eggs at a time in a ground nest.
The Bar-headed Goose is one of the world's highest flying birds, having been seen at up to 10,175 m (33,382 feet). It has a slightly larger wing area for its weight than other geese and it is believed this helps the goose to fly high. Studies have found that they breathe more efficiently under low oxygen conditions and are able to reduce heat loss. The haemoglobin of their blood has a higher oxygen affinity than that of other geese.
The Bar-headed Goose migrates over the Himalayas to spend the winter in India, Assam, Northern Burma and the wetlands of Pakistan. It migrates up to Magadi wetlands of Gadag district of Karnataka in the southern part of India. The winter habitat of the Bar-headed Goose is on cultivation where it feeds on barley, rice and wheat, and may damage crops. The bird is can fly the 1000-mile migration route in just one day as it is able to fly in jet stream.
I arrived at Schiphol on old years evening around 19.00, ready to do some shopping. I forgot that all shops and most bars closed early. At 20.00, business had ended completely.

I shot this photo on February 18, 2011, the day it reached 68° F (20° C) in NYC. That was a record for that day. You can see a man tending an outdoor grill by the side of the building.
Today, the weather is back to normal. It's sunny, but cold.

A rather gorgeous bar and restaurant in Moscow called the Soho Rooms. Very trendy-looking with opulent decor, and very expensive menu to match - shame the food and service let it down - we were with our rather important client and the waiting staff asked us to move tables after we'd been sat at it for 15 mins, then one of our clients' food didn't arrive til after we'd finished ours, AND it was then cold! He ordered sashimi to take away after that, and it arrived in a very unclassy used carrier bag rotfl. Oh, and the way the logo is written on their boxes of matches, it looks like the place is called "SHROOOMS" - bless...!

St. George Single Malt review:
"if whiskey actually tasted like this i would drink it more often." - Crystal
not sure if that's good or bad, but one can certainly taste the characteristics of St. George Single Malt in these bars, maybe churned with a bit of milk - in a good way.
