Clif Bar joined forces with Cobra Creative to tell its inspirational story as a 10-second brand ID. To emphasize Clif Barʼs commitment to people, sports, and the environment, we created a stop-motion collage that collected photos of employees and their dogs alongside meaningful company history to “build” the Clif Bar logo. Over 400 separate images were used to assemble the award-winning brand ID used at various Clif Bar sponsored events.
Boo
This was originally called the Bishop Blaize, BB being the patron saint of textile workers, and cotton of course being king around these parts!
It closed, I think in the late '80s, then reopened as Madison's a year or two later. I was horrified at the time , them renaming it with a meaningless American-sounding handle, but I suppose they had to do whatever attracts customers, and "Madison" and "wine" were popular memes at the time! (all those cheesy yank films)
Here is the recipe.
LEMON BARS
1 cup flour
1/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. shredded lemon peel
3 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 Tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
Powdered sugar
Stir together 1 cup flour and 1/4 cup powdered sugar; cut in butter till mixture clings together. Pat into ungreased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
In mixer bowl beat eggs; add sugar, lemon peel and juice. Beat till slightly thick and smooth; 8 to 10 minutes. Stori together 2 Tbsp. flour and baking powder; add to egg mixture. Blend just till all is moistened. Pour over baked layer. Bake at 350 degrees for4 20 to 25 minutes. Sift powdered sugar over top. Cool; cut into bars. Makes 20. (I once figured that they were 113 calories each.)
This recipe is from an old (1975) Better Homes and Gardens Homemade Cookies Cookbook that looks like it has been through the wars. ;-)
The bar in Liquid Nation at Ladbroke Grove is made of cassettes, currently something of a hip format with young folk. They can keep 'em!
