While on the road for a Dead & Company show my buddy and I decided we needed an adventure so we made a side trip into West Virginia with the sole goal of finding a random bar and drinking there. As two basic hippies we knew the state to lean in a very different direction politically and socially so this meant adventure. We drove into Wheeling and went into the first bar we found. It was mainly a biker bar and the bar top was decorated with numerous pro-Trump, anti-Biden, pro-gun and MC stickers. Just the perfect spot to stop for a few drinks. The bartender was a weathered older fellow wearing a bandana, sleeveless Harley Davidson shirt showing his many tattoos. My friend was wearing tie dye, I was in colorful shorts and Birkenstocks. We enjoyed our $2.50 Budweisers and had a great time chatting with the bartender and patrons, watching a Pirates game and talking baseball. The lack of hostilities despite different backgrounds and ideals gave me a bit of hope and reminded me of the things I love about America. We Americans of similar generations still have so much in common despite growing cultural divides. I hope we can remember what we share and not just focus on what separates us. That’s the hope of the future. There has to be compassion, compromise and connection amongst all Americans. It may just save the day in the end.

Had lunch out today ... again ... and we were lucky to get a table as the place was packed.
Anyways as we were leaving I snapped this bar display on my phone with a toy camera app (all in phone processing), and thought it would do the the 365 treasure hunt, number 25 fairy lights.
Went for a wander around Kanda. When I lived in Tokyo, I never thought once about roaming around this area. While I've been living outside Japan for the last 9 years or so, like any other major city, Tokyo's been modernising a lot. Whenever I return for a visit, I find myself gravitating to places like this which remain largely untouched. The same old little hole-in-the-wall bars and restaurants and interesting alleyways.
