With every spring thaw, it bends a little closer to the lake surface but in this warm autumn light of sunset it is still standing tall and beautiful.
Happy New Year!
Hopefully the New Year will be better than the last two years!
I wish for health and happiness for all my Flickr friends!
This maple tree needs warmth and is therefore planted on the south side of our home. Hope it will survive this unusually harsh winter. Photo No. 6 of Project No. 3 - 2023 Palette of two or three colours (against a black background where appropriate).
We had a mild spell with rain and fog and are now going back to snow and cooler weather,
HFF and have a great weekend.

After a devastating severe winter, the melting snow now promises spring. Even the bare branches hold out hope, for the trees that remain standing.

Photo No. 6 of Study No 4 for 2023, Black and White photos. Because of the very strong winds this winter many trees or branches have fallen this season. I lost a cedar in my own backyard. Even sadder than climate change, I feel it's people's refusal to believe it is happening.
Homeward bound in chilly evening winds.
Blue mood in blue hour
Chilly evening winds tugging

Yesterday morning was very foggy. I had to go out for a bit anyway so brought my camera. I could barely see a block down the street. So I went to our nearby forest, but as it was very slushy from the snow we just had, I didn't want to venture down the 32 steps that would take me down. So I shot the trees in the forest from the top of the steps.
If you zoom in, you can see all the layers better :)
Winter is an exercise in remembering how to still yourself, then how to come pliantly back to life again.

It's dreary yes, but still it's outdoors.

There's a special beauty in tree branches without their leaves ... one of the joys of the changing seasons.
Beautiful blue skyline amidst the bare branches of the trees.
Making them look like thin veins against the skies.

This moody scene was created by a combination of the very low light of twilight, rain, and mist. It was wicked cold! My camera kept its shutter open for 10 seconds to gather enough light to record this image.
Was looking for something to process this afternoon and got slightly distracted :-)

The Illinois Prairie Path provides a perfect place for a wintry walk in Wheaton. Happy Sunday! Good luck getting in the groove as you wander through the week ahead :)

Another one from a year ago. The last walk I took with my friend before the café that was our destination closed for many weeks. Taken with the phone. I was quite pleased about the result and gave it a blue-ish bw treatment in LR.
I have a small lilac tree in a large planter on my balcony. These are the last leaves on it after last night's heavy wind and rainstorm. A rain drop is still hanging on.
