Leading a happily married life....
red color significance in Indian marriages.... do u picturise a marriage without this?
do u picturise an indian wedding ceremony without the color red cloth?? or do you visualise a Indian marriage without the Bangles??
Bangles a necessary paraphenelia of the married women in India...
remember the familiar sight in yester year movies when the "indian" bride would invariably break her "red" bangles at the news of the death of the husband followed by a shreik nahiiiiiiiiii....
Sorry for the lenghty description....
just my interpretation of the theme... dont know how much I have succeeded!
Erin Tracy had us help her with some really interesting experiments on textured acrylic for one of her new jewelry lines. Using a custom file, we used the laser to etch thousands and thousands of individual 3D snake scales. If you're interested in seeing more of her work check out www.erintracydesigns.com
Photo taken Saturday, June 30, at the Allen USA Celebration 2012 in Allen, Texas. There was a huge crowd for the concert and firework show that followed. Pictured are Vicki Peterson and Debbi Peterson of The Bangles.
couldn't find any Guatemalan bracelets that I liked, so made my own with stuff I had on hand: a woven cord from Venezuela, some embroidery thread to make tassels, and three little quitapenas dolls from the Chichi market (these dolls, a Maya custom, carry your troubles away while you sleep...) Pretty happy with these three soft fabric bangles. They won't last forever, but what does? Can always make more. :)
Fantastic rings are true, originally made by 'Hairy Growler - a jeweller and artist from Cambridge in United Kingdom. Totally hand-crafted and completely 100% recycled, zero waste.
This fork bangle shown on the picture is unusual as the other ones created by this unusual artist. Crafted from an old silver fork! Also a small collection of luxury pure solid sterling silver forks dated 1810-1900 are possible, however they are rare! The extraordinary jeweller can make them for special order for you!

Bangles are an inexpensive gift yet a colourful accessory and worn by many Bangalorean women on a daily basis. More photographs by Stuart Forster can be viewed at www.whyeyephotography.com.

These are the same Bling Bam Bangles as the crochet pattern I just released but I used more sequined strands (and therefore a slightly larger crochet hook).
It's easier to tell the difference in person. (A lot of the bling doesn't really show up in photos.)
A re-work of my Mardi Gras Bangle. 'Takara' means 'Treasure' in Japanese.
I will be teaching this design at Das Perlament Bead Shop (Bonn-Bad Godesberg) in April.

fancy bangles online shopping – INDIA’S TRADITIONAL JEWELLERY AT ITS BEST
The oldest form of jewelry in India is the bangle. It was originally made from stones, shells, copper, terracotta, glass, and other common materials. A rigid bracelet-like accessory, the jewelry dates back to Maurya, Mayan, and Roman empires. It was popular in everyday wear during those times. Each Indian woman’s jewelry collection should include a bangle; it can add a touch of extraordinary charm to an outfit.

A weekend, D90, 50mm 1.8f, inside lightbox studio, light source 3 lamps, little Adobe Lightroom for Raw, a bit of Photoshop for signing and floral brushes and here it is....
Closeup of Fabulous Coloured Chopping Boards I bought at the supermarket. Of course they're different colours so that you know which one is for chopping meat & chicken & vegetables. I'm not that practical, nor much of a stickler for hygiene, I'm afraid. What an admission!
Note the brace of bracelets on my arm. I've collected them or been given them over the years
A green bakelite bangle. This has now sold. Ref: 252 A133/11. I always have a stock of bakelite bangles in my shop at Vintage Modes, Grays Antiques in central London. See my web site - www.gillianhorsup.com
Bangles being sold at a road side shop in Haridwar, India. One can't just pass by these shops without taking a look in aww.
The main feature of this bangle is the aptly named 'Cloudy Day' fused glass cabochon by Guru Creations. With its various shades of blue and gray you can almost see the storm clouds starting to gather in the blue sky. The cab is wire wrapped in sterling silver, the silver then forming the rest of the bangle. With two inner wires that have been twisted to create some extra interest and texture, the sides of the bangle have been shaped to create some extra depth and some balance with the focal. The bangle finishes with a simple hook clasp. A truly unique bangle, you will be delighted with this one!
