This is my second attempt to apply the "Rorschach" technique to a bangle. The first lies underneath.
A wire wrapped sterling silver bangle featuring blue dyed Jade surrounded by sterling silver bali style beads.
The colours of Lady Unas (from the movie Stardust) teal dress and the yellow/red carriage of Madame Semele (Ditchwater Sal) inspired me to make this bangle.
It has a nice razzling, dazzling feeling!
Material:
925 sterling silver and 999 fine silver wire and findings. Alex topaz briolettes (heat treated), ruby leaves and rondelles, citrine briolette and smooth rondelles and white cultured white fresh water pearls. Oxidized and tumbled to a nice shine.
Size:
The bangle fits an arm between 6"-7"/15-17cm. It moves around a bit on a smaller arm.
Another view. I love these bangles as they can be worn singly or in bunches. I will definitely be making more of these.
Bijoya Dashami marks the day when one bids adieu to Goddess Durga at the end of a five-day stay on Earth. Legend has it that Dashami is the day when she sets out for Kailash, her husband’s abode, accompanied by her children. With a heavy heart, Bengali Hindus immerse the clay idol of the goddess.
But the most interesting part of the six-day function is enacted just before the immersion, known as Debi Boron and Sindur Khela rituals. Debi Boron is a long process, in which ladies offer sweets, sindur and other items to the idol. It is a purely ladies’ function and that too only married ladies. Widows and unmarried women are generally forbidden. The women, who take part in the Sindur Khela, apply vermillion on the idol’s face and feet with betel leaf, offer sweets and smear each other with sindur.
Before the idols are taken away for immersion, they collect a small amount of vermillion from the Devi, as it is believed it will bestow good health to their husbands when used by them. What is left on the fingers is applied to each other’s forehead, faces, chin and cheeks and also on the noya or the iron bangle worn by every married Bengali woman. The origin of this ritual is unknown but it is said to have started about 200 years ago.

(i find it pretty funny that i got 6 lots of chocolate, because i rarely eat chocolate & this lot will probably last me 6 months - seriously! i especially love the Green & Blacks organic white vanilla chocolate though, & it's always lovely to have fancy sweet things around for when the mood does take me).
I love ethnic jewellery. These two bangles are made of silver and they both come from India. I can't wear them together (their clashing sound would surely annoy my husband). Now I'm wearing the top one on my left wrist.
Polymer Clay Bracelet, back to my favorite color palette! I love rainbow colors and ethnic jewelry. This bangle is looking a little like African bead work.
