I rarely eat dinner at home on weekdays. The only time I eat at home is when I am feeling unwell and am resting at home, or if there is a family dinner (we end up going out anyway).
As it happens, I stayed home today cause I wasn't feeling really well. I woke up this morning coughing my lungs out, to the point I felt bile in my throat and I wanted to throw up. My nose was itching and my throat was sore. Knew I had to stay home. Rang my dad at 645am (he was downstairs at the time, yes, I am that lazy. But I WAS SICK. I couldn't even roll out of bed), and told him that I was dying. He snorted and asked me to go see a doctor instead and get some medicine, and that he didn't want me to go out "lepak" with my friends later on in the day (hehe). I guess I am notorious for randomly taking leaves (hey a girl's gotta clear her leaves) to hang out with my friends.
I went to see the doctor, and he was like "I don't know what to do with you". Scared the shit out of me, actually. He asked me if I smoked, I said no. Asked me if I usually hung out with people who smoked, I said not lately. Then he takes out this little kiddie book on body parts (except this was the real deal..a real graphic book on the parts of the body and their functions) and proceeded to show me a diagram of the nose, and started to explain to me the wondrous functions of my dear nose. I lost track halfway. All I remembered was something about the mucus not filtering the dust particles and such the way they were supposed to (I think its post nasal drip or something like that), and when I slept, they all gathered in my throat area, the insane amount of dust and other disgusting things that were not filtered properly; hence the itch in my throat and tendency to cough.
So anyways, in my house, when you are feeling ill, you eat porridge. Plain white porridge. No arguments. So that was what I had for dinner. Plain white porridge with various dishes. I am not a fan of porridge. Or rice. Or anything steamed. But dinner tonight wasn't so bad, surprisingly.
Whatever it is, I am back to work tomorrow. I dread going back to work. :(
I baked my own pasta on a sunday afternoon. Suddnely had the urge to do it. Pretty easy and nice..but I couldn't finish the whole thing. =)
Dough on the left, ready for shaping.
I used my new dough mixer and will bake it all in the pizza oven.
As a result of an extraordinary process named " Horneado " or "Baked", our complete collection of colors allows you to control the coverage you desire. You can use Ardyss Colors with water, (for a more natural, light look). Overall, the best make up you can buy.
These little bites are, quite simply, one of the best potato skin recipes I have ever tried.

Very Old Snap-shot taken on baking day. This is not a reproduction and I did ask the Lady in question who is now retired if it was OK to add this photo to my collection..

I have made this information graphic to show the transitions between baked dishes.
I am very fascinated by these connection and transitions; that for example a crumble is a tart without pastry :)
Take a look closer:
My favourite Christmas baking. Melted baking chocolate, graham crackers, butter, and icing sugar. Roll into balls and dip in shredded coconut. Mmmm.
Rhubarb and orange crumble, bread rolls and little parmesan and herb muffins (thank you Laura Storm)
baked for the boy's grandparents, in the polka dot tins posted earlier.
eee! made it to explore! :) peaked at 64 on 29.12.06.
summer squash filled with brown rice/mushroom/walnut pilaf, topped with goat's cheese and baked in a fresh tomato puree
It's weird how putting 50¢ worth of flour together with a little yeast, some water and a little bit of salt can make something that smells so good and taste good too. (The key is to let your dough rise overnight in the fridge, a long ferment is good)
I've been having a miserable time trying to get back on my feet after the move back to Austin. I won't be on top of things and caught up until the November 9th payday. Things just got fucked up with car repairs and other stuff..
But it's cool that such a small amount of cheap stuff can produce something so cool. It smells good, it looks good, and it tastes good too. I love making bread. It's almost therapeutic sometimes when I'm a little beat down with the day to day grind.
I made this for Easter Sunday and dinner at a friends home. I have cherries to put on top of it, but I will put them on Sunday - I like chessecake to sit at least a day before cutting.
Did you know that you can make cupcakes in an icecream cone?
I made these cupcakes with funfetti cake mix. You actually cook them in them in the cone and the cone doesn't burn or brown. Just fill the cones up 3/4ths of the way with cupcake batter. Then place in muffin tins and put in the oven at 350.
I made a film of our snowmen baking, and as its too long for flickr, I made just a short taster to upload here...
