Four hummingbirds visit my backyard twice a year. They're fun to watch. Not easy to capture shots of them, but it's pretty rewarding when I do get something a little decent.
I had this hawk come in the backyard today and stay for over 2 hours. I believe he is an immature Cooper's Hawk. It is hard to tell the difference between the Cooper's and the Sharp Shinned. So if someone has knowledge of which one it is, than post it.
I have feeders in the yard, and their diet includes smaller birds. It was also a really cold day, so I think he was also getting out of the cold wind and enjoying the warmth of the sun.
As we shelter in place, I couldn’t resist picking up my camera and trying to get some images of birds in my backyard. Goldfinch in my Cherry Tree.
I go out of town for a few days and when I come back I find a juvenile raptor trying to rule our backyard lake (it was perched on a neighbor's fence when I first espied it...no more than 10 feet away)! Small, fast and agile, it was very difficult to track with my camera (as you will see in several empty frames...haha!).
Anyway, it tried attacking the ducklings in two separate "rafts" (ducks are more often referred to as a raft, team or paddling while the group is on water) but got scared off by the mothers Muscovy. I don't know if it will be back tomorrow but I will be waiting.

A few weeks ago, this is what our 'backyard' looked like. Today the trees are bare and the ground is white. I haven't experienced real winter for 30 years. Here it comes!
Explore # 214. We have a couple of these nesting in our backyard and they're real active right now... had to grab my camera and take a photo of one this morning.
A very tiny outdoor beer garden at the King's Head pub. I liked the creative artwork. That thing is a Hills hoist, an Australian backyard icon used for hanging clothes out to dry.
The Pleiades also known as the Seven Sisters and Messier 45, are an open star cluster in the constellation of Taurus.
This guy came into the backyard yesterday. I went out to make sure the deer could find it's way back over the fence. Instead he started following me around. Had to finally make enough noise for him to leave. Then hung out in the green belt, munching away for about 20 minutes. Before he left, I told him to watch out for the local Cougar.
Cockatoos came to my backyard in the rainy Sunday afternoon.
There was no cockatoo’s food, so I gave budgie's seed-bar.
One cockatoo “stole” whole the bar from my hand^^
Stingy cockatoo as below:

This fellow usually does not show up in our backyard until after dusk but this day he arrived in the early evening. Raccoons tend to be very timid so I had to take the photograph through the window.
Calosoma sp., found roaming my backyard this morning. It sat still just long enough for a portrait then headed off to hunt.
I asked the WhatBird community, "I suppose this is a Mockingbird but it was behaving more like a Roadrunner. It was running along the backyard lawn and pecking at the ground. The lawn is burnt up from drought and excessive heat."
One WhatBird member replied, " Northern Mockingbirds tend to do that. There as many theories as to why they do that, but no definite conclusions. One of the most commonly and the most likely theory is that they are trying to catch food by scaring the bugs with their shadow." Another WhatBird member replied, "What I've always heard was flashing the white wing patches scared bugs."
This autumns leaves piled up on the rocks in my backyard. Soon to be mulched and reenter the cycle of life!
Sock and his ball enjoying an evening outside before heading in the house for a laze.
We figure as the days get shorter, we'd better enjoy the daylight we have. Sock won't complain about that.4
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.
