The Pleiades also known as the Seven Sisters and Messier 45, are an open star cluster in the constellation of Taurus.
In the middle of this back yard, I almost missed seeing this crane, quietly roosting in the background. Not an everyday sighting for sure!
Four hummingbirds visit my backyard twice a year. They're fun to watch. Not easy to capture shots of them, but it's pretty rewarding when I do get something a little decent.
She has a den and 4 pups (which I have yet to see). Sits on the side of the road watching people and cars. Will let me get to within 8 feet of her.
Cockatoos came to my backyard in the rainy Sunday afternoon.

This little male Spotted Towhee has been on hiatus for several weeks but returned this afternoon and posed nicely for a few shots.

A spiny anteater or short-beaked echidna, Tachyglossus aculeatus in a backyard at Hyams Beach south of Sydney. Echidnas can be found in urban areas close to areas of native bushland in many parts of Australia. They are mammals but they and platypus have some reptilian characteristics, for example, they lay eggs. Echidnas are quite large weighing up to 10kg (22lb). They feed on ants and termites. This autumns leaves piled up on the rocks in my backyard. Soon to be mulched and reenter the cycle of life!
This great horned owl paid a visit late on New Years evening(afternoon). Does anyone know a way to attract them to stay?? We have lots of crows and rabbits that I'd gladly trade for a horned owl.
