Students were invited to join a career services event about how to become successful in the world. They learned how to design a good resume, building leadership skills, and finding the right fit for them.
The Backpack's 2011 Staff Xmas party was a sunset cruise on the Jolly Roger Pirate boat in the Waterfront in Cape Town. Everyone had to dress like a pirate. After the cruise we had a spitbraai dinner.
We reduced our carbon footprint by walking to the bus stop and taking the MyCiti Bus to the Waterfont, and our meal was enjoyed with biodegradable crockery and cutlery.
The Backpacking Adventure for Teens began with 2 days of classroom, practicing with gear, and hiking near Los Alamos.
The pack really slows her down. At one level that's good, but since it also wears her out quickly, we probably won't use it much anymore.
