Got some Subversive Cross Stitch patterns. Her stuff is AWESOME. Lenny is recovering from a serious illness... I guess the bright side is that I can work on needlepoint while hanging out with Lenny all day, since I had to take the day off work. I'm incredibly stressed out right now due to abysmal finances and a $327 vet bill, so at least the needlepoint is soothing. . **EDITED TO ADD: Is it against her copyright for me to photograph the pattern?? Please tell me and I'll delete the photo immediately.

Yesterday I got a surprise package from my lovely friend Joanna, who made me these awesome handknit socks! And they fit perfectly! Thanks lady! I love them! <3
But this is what I was trying to do most of lunch: take pictures of ALL the chickens hanging around. Especially this handsome fella.
Chris explained why there are so many domestic fowl now running wild. In 1992, Hurricane Iniki took an unpredicted turn and caused a LOT of damage on Kauai, where it made landfall. (Some of these pictures are nuts, the eye is as big as the whole island! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Iniki) Over 7000 people were left homeless by the storm and a number of customers didn't have power returned for three months. So many homes were destroyed - and their livestock pens and chicken coops, too. Many, many domesticated chickens fled into the mountains, and eventually came back down. They breed with the other wild fowl, and as a result Kauai is CRAWLING with chickens. Seriously they just hang out and try to take food from you like pigeons. I guess it would get old after a while but it entertained me a lot.
