Nous voici donc maintenant sur les pistes de l'intérieur....fini les routes goudronnées( au moins quand j'y suis allé) place aux paysages d'abord ceux du Landmannlaugar Notre car est un véhicule un peu vieillisant mais tous terrains....Les premières rencontres que l'on va faire sont ces chevaux islandais.

le cheval islandais est une race unique, car isolé depuis plus d’un millénaire des autres races équines. Petit par la taille, mais puissant et résistant au dur climat, il a accompagné les Islandais tout au long de leur Histoire. Cette race de cheval est prisée des éleveurs de moutons et permet aux touristes de découvrir l’Islande autrement.

Les chevaux islandais pèsent entre 300 kg et 400 kg et mesurent de préférence entre 1,35 mètre et 1,45 mètre au garrot pour une moyenne de 1,35 mètre, ce qui est considéré comme la hauteur d'un poney, bien que les éleveurs et les registres d'élevage associent l'islandais à un cheval. Il existe plusieurs théories pour expliquer pourquoi l'islandais est toujours appelé « cheval » : l'une d'elles met en jeu le tempérament fougueux et la grande personnalité de la race, une autre l'absence de mots islandais équivalent à « poney », une autre encore suggère que le poids, la structure osseuse et les aptitudes à tracter des charges lourdes de l'islandais le placent dans la catégorie des chevaux

Sa grande particularité provient de ses allures. En effet, il s’agit du seul cheval au monde à présenter cinq allures au lieu des trois habituelles. On retrouve donc les classiques pas, trot et galop, auquel il faut rajouter le tölt et l’amble volant !

Anita and I took a ride out yesterday and the clouds were absolutely wild all day! We were on our way to the Route 11 Potato Chip factory to check it out when we saw this and thought we must be in for a downpour but instead it actually cleared up and by mid-afternoon the sky was blue! Weird weather we are having this winter for sure!

I felt if he could speak to us or sing to us he would be singing " Oh what a beautiful morning " The beautiful male green crowned brilliant was on a nearby branch and I could not help but capture a few!! Such awesome beauty and Costa Rica has beauty at every turn . We will be heading back with Nature's Tapestry Photo Adventure Tours next November 2018 and April 2019 .
