La Jolla Cove, San Diego, California is a popular place to watch seals. Most of the time, they are lying on the beach sun bathing.
This baby seal was an exception. Maybe it was the power of youth, maybe it was energy from an exceptionally tasty breakfast. The kid went into the ocean then crawled back on the beach for several times.
Crawling is not an effortless task for a seal, especially at high speed-proofed by the sand and water particles pushed up by its thrusts. However, the young seal obviously enjoyed it. I did, too.

The family of Chrysomelidae or leaf beetles (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) is divided into 19 subfamilies and includes about 37 000 herbivorous species distributed worldwide.
This scene really came alive with HDR because of the high contrast. Getting composition and hiding the sun behind the tree was a challenge.
Dave Hill treatment...Another attempt in photo editing akin to Dave Hill's techniques...I was the couple's official wedding photographer recently...
Strobist info: Shot with shoot through umbrellas SB900 on the right @ 1/2 manual power and SB600 on the left @ 1/8 power and edited with Photoshop CS4.
This is shown as was taken. The Oak tree was about 1 mile off, using a telephoto lens to compress the distance.
