Have you met Dino Sue?

It happened again today. Infrequently, but it does happen, Dinosaur the ride had a delayed opening due to a technical issue. One thing I got to do while telling people that it was down was take photos of families with our beloved Dino Sue. She is quite magnificent and worth getting a shot in front of. Magic was made one time I visited Disney's California Adventure. Carsland had just opened and for some reason I was possessed to get food at the Cozy Cone. Cone 4 had a thing called Red's Apple Freeze. It sounded like something I had to try. When I did, I fell in love and wondered why there wasn't a longer line for this magical drink. Here I am in Walt Disney World and a friend of mine got a LeFou's Brew and asked if I wanted to try it. I took one look at it and almost dropped. I had been over to Gaston's Tavern before taking pictures but no one had told me that this was CONE 4!!! The same drink is here in all its glory. I get one now almost every time I go to the Magic Kingdom.

This tiny two-roomed building, built of brick in 1936, is claimed to be the smallest free-standing post office in Wales. Known by many names over the years such as the Cryke Chaple, Hen Egwlys and Capel Mair, the place of worship, established circa 1470 was built as a place of worship for local peasents/yeomen who did not have the right to worship in the Abbey itself. Happy 5 Years DCP Fall '09!

Five years ago today, I started something that I thought would just look great on a resume and possibly launch me into a career in creating websites for movies and help companies promote them. I had no idea I would fall in love with a company and a service model that I literally could not live without. 1 - a light bulb (beautiful vanity vintage dead)

3 - cinematic aspect ratio (my favorite: 2.40:1)

I bought this lightbulb and I was getting ready to do some awesome HDR work: black backdrop, lit bulb, oh man, were you going to be impressed. I get it home, plug it in, stupid thing has a blown filament! You can see it if you look carefully straight up from the bottom boot. Super sad. Will exchange and maybe, at some point in the future, I will treat you to pretty light bulb experimentation?

Because sometimes I just get the urge to do a little HDR . . . why does that make me feel so dirty?? ;D

This is a composite of 3 RAW photos converted to HDR and tonemapped in Photomatix, then hand blended back to an original RAW file to get the sky back. Noise Ninja for NR all in an attempt to make it a tiny bit believable!

My thanks to the wonderful Trey Ratcliff and his awesome HDR tutorial. I don't follow it verbatim, but the idea of blending back to an original RAW is a huge help with the skies and an integral part of his technique.

Well I'll preface this one by saying I'M OBSESSED WITH ONONE'S FOCAL POINT! I love tilt shift images and since I'm not down to drop 2500 on the Nikkor TS lens (yet) I'm making the most of this unbelievable software. Special thanks to Brian Matiash brianmatiash.com/blog/ for turning me onto this amazing line of products (along with his awesome HDR Texture Boost Brush in Lightroom). If you haven't seen his work you must have been living under a rock for at least the last year! Couldn't be more approachable and has been a huge help in getting me into the world of HDR.

I spent all day last Saturday (while waiting for my friend to get off work) walking everywhere in San Francisco and think I got the Pyramid from just about every possible angle--this is simply the first I've touched.

Now my apologies if you don't like this effect.......because I'm going to post a ton this weekend (!!!!) as it's supposed to rain and I need to catch up on sleep and Seinfelds I've seen 1,000,000 times over.

What Resort Is Your Favorite?

The first resort I went to after I moved here was the majestic Grand Floridian. I had to see how it compared to my favorite Grand Californian which I frequented while living there in Anaheim and even after. This resort is a stark contrast to that of the Californian. The Floridian is overly posh. I love the white and pristine feel to it. This one feels like a place that those elite of the 1930's would come for a vacation after making their millions. Much like how the Californian places you in an over-sized cabin with cozy fireplace, the Floridian sets you up for a day at the beach or relaxing to the sounds of the piano player play classical pieces for a full immersive experience.

I wish to spend more time in each of the many resorts here on Disney Property. They all have their own personality. The question is, which one next? So far I have been impressed by the theming and the atmosphere. I'll be sure to post what I get from each one. It get's hard to pick a picture of the day from so many pictures taken. For the record I have enough for a couple of months now, but I don't like to place things too close together. As is, you fans of the Hollywood Studios are probably very mad at me right now that I haven't got anything for you yet. YET! Coming soon.

What is your favorite thing about the Backlot Tour?

With the many things available to do and see in Disney's Hollywood Studios, one of the things that I think is really fun but not well advertised is the Backlot Tour. It's kinda shoved back in a corner of Studios where people don't go very often. Sure there is a restaurant area and the Streets of America, but even then the cast members that stand as sentries don't seem to want more people to enjoy...

Which attractions will you wait over 50 minutes for?

The attraction that has the longest line ever in all of Disney's Hollywood Studios is Toy Story Midway Mania. The ride here in Florida is exactly the same as Califronia's, but the queue here is over the top as a great way to spend your time. Standing in this line really shrinks you down to size and get's you ready to play with the toys of the beloved Pixar movie series, Toy Story 1, 2, and 3.
